“Handle what?”
“Protecting you.”
Her chin lifted as she stared into my eyes. “Not from these people.”
“I’m almost insulted, Gracey girl. Are you forgetting that I’m a biker? Whatever you’re concerned about, I can handle it.”
“You sure about that?”
“Positive.”
“I suppose there’s no point in trying to keep it from you. You’ll just hack the information anyway.”
“Probably,” I admitted without shame.
“I’m part of a task force that’s investigating a trafficking ring in Nevada, centralized in Las Vegas. They’re taking girls between the ages of five and fifteen and moving them out of the U.S. into parts of Europe. Once they leave the country, they’re never found.”
“Fuck,” I cursed. “How are you connected to this task force?”
“I’m undercover. That webcam you saw me using? It’s intentional. We’re trying to find out who is making all the decisions on the girls. I work with the feds.”
Damn. I didn’t think she’d gotten involved in anything this serious. Maybe I could contact Agent Sims. “That’s a risky position to be in.”
And far too dangerous. My Reaper growled in my head. He wanted to rip apart these men and send their souls to hell.
“Of course it is. That’s the point. The sooner we catch these men, the better.”
“So, Dolly,” I began.
“Is my online persona. I’m the bait.”
My lip curled into a snarl as I shook my head. “Not anymore.”
She stared at me like I was crazy. “Not your decision.”
“What about those men from the parking garage? Who are they?”
“Tony Collins. He’s a scout for Nicolai Durov. The other is one of his associates.”
My body stiffened as I caught her meaning. “They came for you.”
“I can’t be sure, but yes, that’s the logical conclusion.”
“Then you don’t go back to work.”
“That’s also not your choice.” Her chin lifted higher like she was challenging me.
“Baby, I won’t let anything happen to you. If that means I have to dictate how this is gonna go down, fine. I’ll chain you to my bed before I let you leave and risk losing you.” My hands lifted, and I cradled her pretty face in my palms. “I know we haven’t known each other long, but I care about you, Gracey girl.” My head lowered, and I brushed my lips over hers. “I need you to understand that I’ll do everything in my power to protect you, even if that means I keep you here against your will.”
“If you think you can dominate me, you’re mistaken, Mr. Tatted and Inked Bad Boy.”
Oh, hell yeah, I could. “I can definitely rise to the challenge.”
Just in case she wasn’t sure what that meant, I pressed her back into the nearest wall and pushed my way between her thighs, caging her in between my arms. My head lowered as I kissed a pathway to her ear, nibbling on the lobe before I set her straight.
“Try to run, and I’ll hunt you down, Grace.”
She gasped. “You wouldn’t.”
