He left my side only long enough to grab cold water from the fridge and bring it to me, sitting across from me on the opposite couch. I wondered why he didn’t remove his helmet. It was odd.

Right about the moment I began to feel uneasy from the biker’s continued stare, I felt my cell vibrate in my palm. I looked down, catching the text that Agent Rickman sent me.

I didn’t send anyone. Get out of there. Now!

Oh, fuck! Panic flared in my chest.

“Who are you?” I asked, jumping to my feet.

The biker reached for his helmet and removed it, standing as if he could tell I was spooked and expected me to run. “Hey, Gracey girl.”

Oh, God. My Skull Reaper was here, and I didn’t know how he managed to find and rescue me in time. “Hunter,” I gasped, taking a step back. “How did you find me?”

“Hunter,” she gasped. “How did you find me?”

“You forgot what I do for a living, beautiful,” I answered, raking my gaze over her from head to toe as I’d been doing since we arrived. Now that the helmet was off, I could see her even better, and I intended to savor every second we spent together. “Finding people is my specialty.”

“Oh.” Grace sunk her teeth into her bottom lip, swallowing hard before she took another step away from me.

My Reaper snarled in my head. He didn’t like her reaction.

“Grace, we should talk.”

She blinked and glanced at the door. “This is weird, Hunter. I don’t know what to say.” Her phone vibrated in her palm, and she glanced at the screen, alarm briefly flashing across her face. “They’ll find me.”

Shit. Who’ll find her? The men from the parking garage? And why was she acting like this? Did she think I would hurt her?

“Fuck, pretty girl. Tell me you’re not scared of me.”

Grace’s shoulders slumped. “No. It’s just that after what happened,” she paused and scrunched her nose.

“Hey, I think you’re worried about shit that isn’t important.” Was she embarrassed because I saw her masturbate? Everybody touched themselves. We all got horny. No biggie.

“But this is the first time we’re meeting face to face.”

“Yeah. So? We’re good. No issues between me and you.”

“Hunter.” She shook her head. “You saw me on the cam.”

“I did.” A grin stretched my lips. “And I saw afterward. Heard you call my name too.”

“Oh, God. Did you have to bring that up?” Her cheeks grew pink as she refused to look at me.

“Grace, I got a happy ending too. Although, I think it would have been a hell of a lot better if we’d been in the same room together when it happened.”

Her head tilted back as she sighed. “You’re awful.”

“Baby, I’m talented. There’s a difference. If you’d like to see,” I offered, moving closer as she held up a palm.

“Stop. We can’t talk about this right now.”

“Why not?” I wasn’t stupid. I knew serious shit was happening, and I needed to learn about the threat against her. But right now? I cared about making her feel safe and eliminating any doubt or fear that could hinder our new relationship.

“Because there’s dangerous people out there.”

“There almost always is,” I agreed, sliding my arms around her waist and tugging her closer. “I can handle it.”
