She’s not shaking like I thought she would be, and that’s how I know it’s still Hush here with me.

“I have to call Griffin,” she states, pulling back and I hand her my phone.

While she speaks to Griffin, making arrangements for what I assume is a clean up given her DNA is probably everywhere in here now, I look around the house finding a room with four computer monitors, and on each screen is a different explicit scene playing out.

It takes a moment for me to realise that two of the monitors are displaying men with… children.

“Fuck,” I grunt, spinning away, my chest rising and falling rapidly.

Dee steps into the room flicking the light on, and that’s when I notice the blood on the floor and chair.

“He was sitting here jerking off,” she states, her tone quiet but deadly. “These screens aren’t recordings. They are live, happening right now, somewhere in the world.”

“What?” I snap, turning to face the room, but avoid looking at the screens.

She nods. “I told Griffin. He’s on his way with his crew and a hacker that should be able to at least get a general location… Maybe.”

“I can’t…” I shake my head, feeling sick to my stomach, and Dee takes my hand, and I notice she has now taken off her balaclava.

“This is why I do what I do. I know it’s not my fight, but those kids,” she points to the monitors, “they can’t fight for themselves. So, I do it for them.”

I nod, understanding now, more than ever, why this fight she’s fighting, along with the help of the Angels and the Marx family, is so fucking important.

“You could have been killed. Or he could have raped you,” I state, my voice a little pitchier than usual.

“Yeah, I could have.” She shrugs like it’s no big deal.

“Fuck,” I hiss and drag her to my chest again.

We wait about twenty minutes before Griffin and his crew turn up. While they get to work doing whatever it is they do, Dee cleans up in the bathroom, removing the clothes and putting them in another bag before handing them to Griffin.

“What do you do with them?” I ask Griffin, pointing to the bag.

He looks from me, down to the bag, and back up to me. “Burn them.” He shrugs like it’s no big deal.

“How do we know for certain you do that? Maybe you’re keeping them to blackmail Dee with later on.”

Griffin chuckles and Dee’s brows shoot up.

“You’ve seen the scum we are dealing with, kid. If it weren’t for Hush, we wouldn’t have eliminated half the sick fuckers we’ve come across. There’s no way I’d ever leave evidence that could lead back to her.”

I narrow my eyes. “If you ever try to fuck her over again, I’ll kill you myself,” I snap, and Griffin smirks.

“I don’t fucking doubt that. Seems you’re a pretty accurate shot. We could really use you on our team.”

In a heartbeat, Dee AKA Hush, has Thana pressed to Griffin’s throat. He stills, his eyes wide and his men all freeze, their hands hovering near whatever weapons they are carrying. Dee doesn’t speak. She doesn’t have to. Griffin knows.

“Ok. Ok. I won’t mention it to him again,” Griffin agrees and I smirk as Dee backs off, returning to my side.

Griffin’s men relax and get back to their tasks, and Dee links her fingers with mine, giving them a squeeze as she gestures her head to the front door.

Time to leave.

“What. No goodbye?” Griffin asks, and Dee rolls her eyes. “Come on. I’d like to think I’m more than the prick that blackmailed you.”

Dee stares at him for a minute before stepping forward and giving him a one-armed hug while still holding my hand.

“Look after him.”
