She spins abruptly and stalks towards me. And fuck, the urge to step back and run for my life is strong, but I stay in place. Right now Dee is more Hush than anything, but I care about every version she is, so I’m not going to back down.

“You should have told me!” she hisses, baring her teeth as she jabs a pointed finger to my chest.

“And what would you have done?” I ask and she growls before turning on her heel.

“Jared is right, Hush,” Griffin adds. “You need to be smart about this. If you still want to leave this town with your brother alive, you can’t react on fear. You have to be strategic about this.”

Dee stares at Griffin for a few long moments and then, as if she’s just snapped out of a trance, she directs her wrath to her aunties.

“Is that everything? Have you told me everything I need to know?”

Amanda slowly shakes her head. “You should probably know that even though the police reports say that Catherine went off the rails at Joey for feeding Travis fast food, the real reason is that your dad was a police informant, and Catherine found out he was feeding the cops information about the Kerr family business. The business Catherine worked in.”

Shit. Is that why Bianca thinks Trav is working with the cops? Is she paranoid, thinking Travis is like his dad?

Dee nods, appearing to take that bit of information well, and fuck, I know better. Inside, behind those big fucking walls, she’s going to be freaking out. How could she not? I just want to wrap her in my arms, knowing that her already fractured heart must be hurting more than ever.

DEE

My head is a mess. My heart hurts. And I’m so angry right now, I’m afraid I might accidentally kill someone I’m not meant to. To top it off, even though I’m pissed at Jared for keeping stuff about my brother from me, instead of wanting to hurt him, I want to fuck him. Which is confusing as hell.

Our meeting disbursed not long ago, the Angels leaving when I dismissed them, not able to force another word from me. And Griffin and Aggie left not long after, leaving me pacing with Jared’s eyes on me until I couldn’t take anymore of his silence.

Making our way back through the Red Room, I stop in the passage, glancing down each end. One way goes out into the club where the girls dance on poles and men drool over them, and the other leads to the private rooms.

“What’s wrong?” Jared asks from behind me, standing so close that I can feel the warmth of his body at my back.

I glance back over my shoulder at him, biting my lip as I stare at his, looking totally kissable.

“Dee? Why are you looking at me like that?”

I grin, turning back the way we came, and head to Griffin’s office.

“Dee?” Jared calls, catching up to me. “What are you doing?”

I don’t answer him, of course. Where’s the fun in that?

Pushing Griffin’s door open, I ignore his startled expression as I walk in on him and Aggie having a private moment together.

“Uh-hi?” Griffin mutters as I storm to his desk and push him aside, causing him to stumble into his woman.

“Dee. What are you doing?” Jared asks again, and yet again, I don’t answer him.

Opening Griffin’s top drawer, I find what I’m looking for, grab it before shutting the drawer.

“Hey!” Griffin snaps, grabbing my wrist before I can get away. “What are you doing with that?”

I glance up to see Jared’s confused expression before shooting Griffin a raised‘really’brow and it takes him a moment to switch on to what’s happening.

“Oh.” He releases my wrist quickly, like I’ve just burned him, and his eyes dart to Jared. “Was this your idea?”

Jared huffs, throwing his hands up. “I have no fucking clue what is happening right now.”

Griffin chuckles, turning his gaze back to me as I head to his office door. “Well... ahhh. Have fun with that.”

Aggie giggles as Griffin wraps his hand around her waist and draws her close, and I hear Jared cursing behind me as he follows me out, closing Griffin’s office door behind him.
