“I didn’t think it would come to this. I’m sorry,” I say honestly.
She studies my eyes for a moment, as if she’s looking for the slightest hint of a lie, but she won’t find one.
“Things were easier when you were a stranger with no face,” she whispers, and my lips thin.
“You wish I didn’t reveal myself?”
She considers that for a moment.
Our subbing for Santa game was fun. The anticipation was off the charts. But it was just a game, and now I’m asking her for more. For something real.
“Actually, I’m glad you finally showed me who you were.” She offers me a small smile. “Easy is overrated.”
Fuck.
Relief washes over me at her words, and a grin tugs at my lips.
“So, will you stay?”
“Are you sure I’ll walk out alive?” She asks in all seriousness, and I hate that she even considers being killed an option.
“I’ll burn this place to the ground and everyone in it if anyone so much as touches you with a feather.” My growl is menacing, and the look in her eyes tells me she believes every word.
“I guess that will have to do.” She grins, and fuck, I love seeing her smile.
Pressing my body flush against hers, I steal a kiss and she instantly melts into me. Her dainty hands fist in my hair, dragging me closer, and I moan into her mouth, wrapping my arms around her slim waist, not able to have her close enough.
When my dick joins the party, I pull back reluctantly, my eyes dropping to her pink swollen lips, before staring into her caramel gaze.
“Fuck, Aggie. I know we are new, but I feel like I’ve known you longer. So much longer.” I press my forehead to hers, and her lashes flutter with emotion as she stares back.
“Griff.” She breathes. “I still have so many questions, but I’m too exhausted to think about them tonight.”
“Shit, I love it when you call me Griff.” I admit, and a laugh spills free from my woman.
“WellGriff. Any chance we can get drunk and forget our worries for the rest of the day?”
“Absolutely.” I beam, pulling her in for a hug. “And later, I’m going to make you come, and then fuck you so hard the entire house will hear.”
“Oh my god, no!” She pushes me back, slapping my shoulder and I chuckle and snatch her hand, slowly leading her back towards the house.
We wander back inside, and I lead her to the kitchen where I pour us another drink. Given Fallon’s attempt to cause trouble earlier, I have no interest in exposing Aggie to that shit again, so I stay attached to her for the rest of the day. I keep our bodies linked, either by our hands, arms, or legs, as we both pretend that Fallon isn’t staring daggers into the side of my woman’s head for the rest of the afternoon.
Fucking Fallon. She’s not normally a troublemaker, but I’ll be fucked if I sit back and let her torment the woman I’m going to make mine. She can fuck right off.
Thankfully, she keeps her distance, and we can relax somewhat, watching my brothers hang shit on each other, and Gracie talks Aggie’s ears off with stories of me from when I was in my early twenties.
Dinner is leftovers, and afterwards everyone pitches in to do the dishes and clean the living area and kitchen before dispersing into different groups throughout the house.
Upstairs, just off the landing through double doors, is the rec room, which is more of an adults’ retreat. Sports memorabilia hangs on the panel walls, which are a rich charcoal, giving the room a dark and sultry feel. An extensive bar runs along one corner, with a wide screen TV and sofa nearby. The centre of the room features a black timber pool table topped with red felt, and at the other end of the room, sitting before large glass doors which are open letting in the warm night air, is an oval poker table.
It’s probably more of a man’s retreat than anything.
Following my brothers, I lead Aggie to the poker table, taking a seat before tugging her down onto my lap. Kendrick, Liam, Oswald and Brennen take their seats too, and Kendrick starts shuffling the cards, while the other three pretend like they aren’t checking out my woman.
Sneaky fucks!
We all chat and take the piss out of each other as Kendrick deals the cards, and we sink into a comfortable flow as we play against each other. Something we do every year.
