“I might take you up on that,” she replies.
I try not to moan as her fingernails make an upward motion and graze my nipple.
“I—” She stops when her doorbell rings and I bite down the stream of curse words that come to mind.“Oh no,” she whispers, her face going completely white.“Logan?—”
I reach up and hold her face, when she’d move away completely.I force her to look directly at me.
“Breathe, Torrent.”
“That could be Wolf.Logan, if he catches you here… Oh God…”
“Torrent, baby, it’s going to be okay.Just breathe,” I tell her again.
“But—”
“I’ll hide and you get rid of them, tell them you were sleeping and not feeling well.”
“You can’t be here!If he sees you… Ifanyonesees you, Logan…”
“I’m not leaving until I’m sure you’re okay for the night.”
“I don’t think?—”
She practically squeals when instead of the doorbell ringing again there’s a pounding on the front door that you can hear even here in her bedroom.
Someone is getting anxious.
I kiss her before she can scream when the man yells so loud you could swear he’s in the room with us and not through a locked door two rooms over.
“Torrent!Open the door!”
When we break apart, her eyes are wide. She brings her fingers up to her lips.
“That’s Red, not Wolf.”
“Put your robe on.I’ll be close by, so I’m promising you that you will be safe.”
“I—”
“Stop arguing and let’s get this done so that fucker will leave.”
“Okay,” she whispers and then she surprises me by kissing me this time and it’s a quick kiss, but the fact she takes the time to wrap her tongue around mine and growls into my mouth is nothing but encouraging.“Don’t leave,” she says and this time I’m the one that’s surprised.“Promise you won’t leave, Logan.”
“Wild horses couldn’t drag me out of here right now, Angel,” I swear to her.
“Then let’s get rid of thatfucker,” she says with a grin and for some reason she looks completely at ease right now.I don’t know what brought on the change, but it’s good to see and I definitely want to stick around to see what my girl has on her mind.
Chapter46
Torrent
I feellike skipping on the way to the door.I’m dreading dealing with Red and whatever his damage is, but in my head there’s this voice sing-songing.
“Devil cares for me.He really cares for me.”
I’ve never really had a man that I’ve liked this much—never had someone in my life that was necessary except for my father.Devil has been different from the beginning. My reactions to him and the way he makes me feel are unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. The simple truth here is that I care for him.I care…deeplyfor him, even if I shouldn’t.
“Try to leave my door hanging please,” I growl as I cinch the belt of my robe at my waist.I look over my shoulder nervously one last time to look for Devil.I don’t see him, and I guess right now that’s a good thing. Before I turn my deadbolt I take a deep breath and then force myself to look completely natural—and sleepy.
