She was forced to drink, but she grimaced and turned away.

“She gave me this too?” Justin spoke up. “Said it would calm her down?”

“Take this,” Geo demanded, pressing a pill to her lips. “Swallow it, Rue.”

She swallowed it, shaking her head again but not daring to say no. He was upset and irritated, he might go off on her.

“Now relax some, lay down here and relax. I got you. Just chill.”

Sailor cried silently, holding on to him and wishing she could just get away.

Moments later, she began going numb, her mind fogging as she went still, then passed out.

Chapter 24

Waking with a jerk, she gasped as voices filtered in. She didn’t turn around, but she heard men talking. It was Geo speaking that had woken her.

“Easy, Rue, you’re fine,” he murmured, holding her close.

She said nothing, she didn’t move at all. She stayed curled up into him and listened to the men speaking about what needed to happen now that Trey was out of the picture and who Geo wanted in his place.

After the men left, Sailor finally lifted her head to look up at Geo. “I need… I need the bathroom,” she whispered.

“Fools, she needs the restroom,” Geo called to Davon and Justin.

Davon stepped up quickly and offered her a hand rather than just yanking her up. She let him help her stand, then pulled away and followed him to the bathroom.

When she came out, she looked in the kitchen and saw Sophia cooking happily and talking to Mig. She also saw a gun strapped under the high counter, like it was hidden there. Anyone else wouldn't have seen it, it was meant to be hidden there.

That made her wonder how many guns were hidden throughout the house. Could she get her hands on one? And ifshe did, would she be able to use it? She wasn’t sure she could, not even to save her own life.

Returning to the living room, Geo was on the phone, but he smirked at her and patted his lap.

She pretended not to see it, going to the far end and pulling the blanket over her lap. She knew he would say something, and she knew a single way to head him off.

“Can I please have a drink?” she asked Justin. “And something to eat?”

She didn’t feel hungry at all, she felt like food might make her vomit, but she knew Geo had latched on to that. That was how he was ‘taking care of her’, making her eat and drink like the doctor told her.

Geo gave Justin a nod and waved him off, but he still reached over and pulled her closer to him. Sailor said nothing, not resisting or acting as upset as she was. Instead, letting her head lean onto him, though she felt tense and sick to her stomach. He put an arm around her as he talked on the phone, and Sailor wondered why he was so needy and possessive. She was the container his child was growing inside, so why did he care about her feelings?

Justin brought in a tray with two plates of food and two drinks, setting it on the coffee table in front of them. Geo got off the phone and leaned up, pulling the tray into his lap and sliding her plate over to her side.

“Eat up, Rue,” Geo told her.

The smell hit her, and she felt a little hungry, it smelled good. She ate, but it was still sparing since her stomach felt like there was a massive rock in it.

“Nah, I need you to eat more,” Geo told her when she put her fork down after a few bites.

“My stomach hurts,” she told him. “I’ll try to eat more soon, but I’m waiting to make sure I can keep this down first, okay?”

“Drink all that water, then.”

She sipped the water, then curled into him, hoping he’dbe happy enough that she was close. He finished as she sat there thinking about how she would get away and what she might need to do.

“You feel up to writin’ what you was talkin’ ‘bout?” Geo asked her.

“I can try,” she whispered, her mind immediately returning to the morning and what had happened. Tears welled up, and she shook her head. “I shouldn’t have… I’m sorry!”
