“Signing the damn thing,” he replies.
“Oh, no. You don’t sign the contract. Hayden does.”
I look at her in surprise as Sebastian explodes, “What the fuck?”
She looks around at us, and I frown as I think about it. I mean, it makes sense, I guess. I just wasn’t expecting to have to enter into a contract with this woman today.
The thought of having a very different kind of contract with Tati brings an unexpected shock of arousal to my cock, and I’m horrified with myself for having this train of thought. I never had contracts in place anyway, and it’s not something I allow myself to think about or indulge in now that I’m famous. I would definitely never broach the topic with Blake because I know he’d never give up control to me.
Tati pulls me away from my dangerous thoughts when she shrugs her shoulders. “I’m sorry, I thought you all knew that. The contract is between my client and me.”
“So, you’re expecting Hayden to pay you?” Cooper asks.
“I actually don’t care who pays me, as long as someone does. Legally, I suppose Hayden is responsible if no one else pays. The contract, however, is a commitment between myself and my client. Not myself and a third party.”
I’m impressed as she meets his angry glare head-on, and I can clearly see she’s confident and capable of handling herself. Not to mention she’s not afraid of pissing off Cooper, which she’s already done multiple times this meeting.
“If anything needs to change in respect to it, for whatever reason, we are not hampered by some other person who may want to have a say in those decisions. It allows me to work solely for my client, and in their best interest, alone. You wanted the best, Cooper? Well, I’m the best, and this is what you get if you want to work with the best.”
For once, Cooper seems speechless. In fact, nobody else says anything, and there’s an awkward silence during which I process what she just said.
I like this. I like that it’s between her and me. Nobody else. She seems as though she really cares about her clients. She’s right that if Cooper signed it and something needed changing, he would certainly be annoying to deal with.
I look over at him. “Hand me the contract, Cooper, so I can sign it.”
“Have you read it?” Tatiana asks me.
I nod my confirmation to her. I was CC’d in the email that Cooper sent the lawyer and read it all. It’s a very interesting contract, that’s for sure, but as far as I’m concerned, it shows how committed she will be to keeping me safe and that I need to be equally committed to remaining safe.
I sign the contract with my legal signature, not the one I use for autographs. Tatiana also passes me her copy to sign, which I do before sliding the contracts back to her and handing her the pen I’m holding.
She takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly, then signs her name next to mine on both contracts. So that’s it, I guess. I’m officially tied to this woman until someone finds my stalker.

The Morality Clause
I’m sittingin my library reading a book when my phone rings, and I see the name ‘Tati Swanson’ on the screen. We exchanged numbers earlier, and I’ve been waiting for this call. She said she had a few things to organize before she could start and would be around later in the day.
“Hello, Tati,” I say when I answer.
“Hi, Hayden. I’m downstairs.”
“Cool, I’ll see you soon.”
I quickly place a bookmark in my book and put it down on the table next to me. I close the door to the library behind me as I walk out and take the elevator downstairs. As soon as I see her, I can’t stop the smile that comes across my face. Then I notice her expression, and my smile drops at once.
She looks furious, which is confirmed by the tone of her voice when she says, “What are you doing here?”
I can tell I’ve fucked up somehow, and my heart races as I wait for her to tell me how I did it. “Um, you called to tell me you were downstairs, so I came to get you? Did I do something wrong?”
“Hayden, you should’ve sent Jesse,” she tells me as she gets into the elevator with me, and I busy myself putting the code into the elevator that will allow it to travel up to my apartment. “You were upstairs in a secure area. If you ever need to be separated from your security for whatever reason, youshould be the one who stays in the secure area, not your bodyguard.”
Shit.
