This is fucked. So fucking fucked.
I have to stop thinking about her like this. It’s not right. I have a boyfriend. She’s my employee.
Jesus christ, I’m not fucking Sebastian.
I’ve never felt the need to fuck every woman who crosses my path. For some reason, Tatiana manages to make that difficult to remember. My attraction to her is intense, and I don’t think I’ve met someone who I felt this much of a pull toward as I do with my new security specialist.
I give up on the idea of reading and pull out my phone to text Harrison. He’s going to dinner with Heather, Gabriel, and Ariana at a Greek restaurant before Club Delirium, and he has invited me to come with them.
Seb already got Lita to agree to make dinner for Tati and me. I’d feel bad canceling now, and I want Italian.
I laugh when his reply comes through.
When the rumors start that the band’s splitting up because you’re not out at dinner with us, I’ll know who to blame.
I grin and quickly type back.
Yeah, yeah. Wouldn’t be the first time those rumors were flying around, and it won’t be the last. See you tonight.
As I hit send, somebody twists the door handle to my room. I call Tatiana and start walking over to the door as the sound of keys jingling against one another can be heard.
Tatiana’s musical laugh comes from the other side of the door as she answers my call. “Hello, Hayden.”
“Someone’s trying to get into my room. I’m guessing it’s you, though.”
She confirms, “Yes, it’s me. I’ve got the keys. See you in a second.”
She begins to unlock the latches, but this is dumb because I know it’s her, so I twist the second deadbolt after she unlocks the first one and pull the door open.
She’s standing much closer than I expected, which was foolish of me because she had to be close in order to unlock the door. She stares up at me with wide, blue eyes, and her breathing is shallow.
A part of me is relieved that I have this effect on her because I’ve been worried she would think of me as her creepy boss. At the same time, I know this is very muchnota good thing. All of the reasons I shouldn’t be having dirty thoughts about her remain true, even if she doesn’t think of me as her creepy boss.
“Uh, hi,” she says as I drink in the sight of her despite myself.
She’s wearing trousers and a blouse, with her hair braided around her head like she did at Cooper’s office yesterday. Her skin is slightly flushed and dewy, bearing the remnants of the steam in the shower.
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a woman look this sexy so unintentionally, but as she stares back at me in a way that I have seen women look at me so very many times before, I know I need to shut this shit down right this second.
“Hey,” I say and give her a casual smile. “Did you have a good shower?”
She still has that stunned look on her face, and I cringe internally because this was probably the worst question I could’ve asked. I know that I’m certainly back imagining her naked and wet.
“Yes, it was lovely, thank you.” She slips back into her coolly professional tone and wipes the stunned look from her face in the process. “What do you need to do today? Are there any plans?”
“I’m pretty sure we’re going to Club Delirium tonight, but that’s it.” I can’t help but smile when I think about my dinner plans. “I do want to go over to Sebastian’s to see him and Lita. They just had a baby.”
Tatiana nods. “We can do that.”
She stares at my chest with a blank look on her face, and I’m not sure what she’s thinking, but I do know that I shouldn’t return the favor, as tempting as it is to check out her cleavage.
I focus firmly on her face and ask, “Is there anything you need to do?”
She blinks at me as she stares up at me, and she’s so fucking close that I could kiss her if I wanted to. Not that I would because I’m not a cheater. Maybe I should get that tattooed on my arm or something to help me remember.
“Yes, a few things. Eat,”—she grins at me—“also, get Jesse here to talk, and have a discussion with building management. I also need the full list of all the states we’re going to for the tour so that I can ensure my licenses are all in order. I prefer to conceal my weapon, but it makes it difficult with all the different states to make sure I’m legally allowed to do so.”
“You don’t have a license to kill?” I tease her.
