Lita thinks about it for a few seconds, then says, “No, it doesn’t.”

“I’m not saying you should sit around waiting for me, Lita.” I smile at her. “If someone comes along who you’re interested in and can give you a relationship here in Seattle, go for it. I won’t be offended.”

As much as I enjoy sex with Lita, I don’t want to be tied down, and it wouldn’t be fair to ask her to save herself for me when I have zero intention of doing the same. I think of Hayden’s deal with Ally, and maybe some version of that could work for us. We fuck when we’re together, but we can fuck other people as well, and if Lita finds a guy she wants to be with, then good for her.

“I’ll have to think about it, I guess.” She smiles at me. “Look, it’s certainly a better option than what I first thought I’d get, being a single mother to a kid with an absentee father who refuses to acknowledge them.”

She doesn’t say it with any malice, but there it is again, the clear evidence that she thinks of me as a piece of shit.

I sigh deeply. “I can’t pretend it doesn’t hurt to hear you say that, Lita. Your opinion of me is so low. You always seem to expect the worst from me.”

“I’m sorry, Seb.” She kisses me, and I accept her apology immediately. “I’ll admit you’ve been proving a lot of my preconceptions about you wrong since the day I met you.”

“Yes, I did get the feeling you weren’t my biggest fan.” She basically seemed to hate me, but she was a big fan of the band, so she must’ve liked one of us at least. “Gabriel?”

“What about him?” She blinks as she frowns at me.

“Was Gabriel your favorite?”

“Oh, no.” She flushes bright red and shakes her head. “Hayden.”

I laugh as I think about the night we met. “You didn’t even pay any attention to him.”

“I did try,” she tells me with a wry grin. “But then you were there, all sexual magnetism, calling me ‘princess,’ and begging me to fuck you with every look. How could I resist?”

“Was this how I was looking at you, princess?” I ask her, giving her my most seductive look as I think about the many, many things I want to do to this woman.

“Yes, it was something like that.” She smirks at me.

I wakein bed with Lita in my arms on Saturday morning. It’s strange actually sleeping with a woman, but I certainly don’t dislike it. My head is full of everything that we’re facing, but my cock is stiff, and I’m definitely eager to fuck her again. She’s asleep and looks incredibly beautiful as she rests in my embrace.

I lean over carefully to grab my phone off the bedside table, and the first thing I see is a text from Cooper.

I’m flying back to Chicago this morning.

I frown at his text because I need to speak to him before he leaves the city. I quickly send a reply to him.

What room are you in? We need to talk before you go.

He’s just sent his response with his room number when Lita rolls over and smiles at me. “Good morning.”

“Morning, princess.” I drop a kiss on her lips, and my jaw tightens as I say, “I just have to go see Cooper. He’s flying back to Chicago this morning.”

Her smile disappears, and she frowns at me but says, “Okay. That’s fine.”

“I’ll be back as soon as I can. Then we can order breakfast and…do whatever.”

She nods, but doesn’t smile at me. “Sounds good.”

I dress quickly and head to Cooper’s room. Daryl’s not with me because he stayed in his own room last night, and it’s kind of weird not to have him trailing me for once. I knock on the door to Cooper’s suite, and it’s less than a minute before he opens it. I follow him into the room and see his suitcase is packed and ready nearby.

“What do you need to talk about, Sebastian?”

“You fucking know what I need to talk about,” I bite out.

“I was just looking out for you. That woman is a pain in the ass, much like you. You’re far better off paying her to have an abortion and being more careful in the future.”
