He nods and hands one to me. I take the spare keycard to my suite and write the room number on the folder it sits in before I hand both the keycard and pen back to him. Lita won’t be arriving until this evening, so I’m spared Cooper’s presence for a while when we get upstairs.

I’m actually nervous in the hours I spend waiting for Lita to arrive. We’ve texted a few times, and I’m pretty sure the sexual chemistry is still there between us. I’ve begun to be hopeful that this weekend might be a chance to have sex again. I’ve been going back and forth over the pregnancy issue, but the most realistic and obvious option is for Lita to end the pregnancy.

Heather calls me, and I smile as I answer her call.

“Hey, lover. How’s your day going?”

“Good. Have you seen Lita yet?”

It feels like butterflies are hosting their own Grand Prix in my stomach at the mention of seeing Lita.

“Not yet. She’s coming over after she finishes work.”

“Any idea what she wants to do?”

I sigh and shake my head. “No. We haven’t talked about the issue at all, just organized me coming here.”

“What doyouwant to do, though?”

I blow out a breath of air and tell her honestly, “Fuck, Heather. I don’t know.”

“Well, you should probably figure it out, don’t you think?”

I grit my teeth and stare out the window of my hotel suite as I think about her question.

“I guess so,” I concede. “I just can’t see us actually having a baby together. Shit, I can’t really see myself ever having a baby. The implications of this are huge. If she wants to keep it—” I cut myself off as the idea of Lita deciding to keep my baby hits me in full force. “I can’t even imagine what I’ll do.”

“You’ll be a father. That’s what you’ll do.”

I frown and say coolly, “Yes, I’m aware. I’m not a total fucking asshole. I’m not going to abandon my baby mama and kid if that’s how it goes down.”

“Chill, Seb. I don’t think you’re an asshole. I’m one of your biggest champions. You know that. Just…maybe tell Lita that. Let her know that you’re going to support her because she’s probably freaking out right now.”

I can’t say anything for a few seconds as I process this. I hadn’t thought about how Lita must be feeling. This is probably a lot for her, and I don’t exactly have the best track record of being supportive of her, considering the way I treated her when the condom broke.

“You’re right, I guess.”

“I usually am,” she laughs. “I’m wise like an owl, you know.”

I laugh as well and say, “So I’m led to believe. God, I’m so fucking nervous. I think I might be sick.”

“You’ll be fine. Let me know how it goes.”

“Thanks, lover. I’ll talk to you later.”

We end our call, and I’m left with no further distraction from my nerves. When Lita sends me a text to tell me that she’s on her way, I call Cooper and let him know. He arrives a few minutes later with a scowl on his face.

“The paparazzi know you’re staying here. They’re out front.”

“Ugh. Good to know. Is Daryl aware?”

Cooper nods. “Yes, I informed him on my way into the suite.”

My bodyguard sits by the entrance whenever he’s not escorting me somewhere. It took a while to get used to having someone hovering around me at all times, but now I’m pretty much used to it.

We talk for about ten minutes, and my nerves are getting worse as Cooper says, “So the video shoot for Unexpected Shapes is scheduled for next month. Everything’s in place now.”

“That’s good. The treatment seemed—” I cut myself off when movement at the side of the room catches my eye, and I look up to see Lita.
