I walk forward and position myself between them, putting my arms around their shoulders and say, “Oh no, here comes trouble.”

“I assume you’re talking about your arrival, Sebastian Fox, because Julia and I are pure angels.” April looks up at me and gives me an innocent smile while fluttering her eyelashes at me.

“Didn’t I see you dancing on a table at Club Delirium last month, or was that just my imagination?” I tease her.

“I don’t know. I would’ve thought you were too busy making out with your new friend on the dance floor to see anything that I was doing.” She smirks at me, and my jaw tightens.

Another reminder of Lita. I drop my arms from around their shoulders as we continue to the VIP area. I can vividly remember the moment that April is talking about from four weeks ago, but I pretend that I don’t.

“I’m not sure what you mean.” I shrug my shoulders and look at her.

“Oh, really?” April raises an eyebrow at me. “Totally hot brunette. Competition winner. You had your tongue down her throat. Not that I blame you, of course, shewasgorgeous.”

“I think I vaguely recall who you mean. I sleep with a lot of women, so narrowing it down helps.”

Julia shakes her head and laughs. “You’re terrible, Sebastian.”

“Not in bed, though.” I wink at her.

“I’ll keep that in mind.”

I look Julia over and consider if I should sleep with her tonight. I’d never hook up with April because it’s too complicated, but Julia’s not off-limits.

“At night time, when you’re alone in bed?” I suggest.

“Maybe.” She raises her eyebrows at me suggestively.

April hits my arm with hers. “Hey, stop hitting on my friend!”

“Why?” I ask as I turn to look at her.

“Because it’s weird. I demand that you perform a ‘stop it’ at once.” April wrinkles her nose at me.

“Fine, fine.” I hold my hands up in a conciliatory gesture, then turn back to Julia. “Your loss, Julia. When you don’t have the best sex of your life later tonight, you can blame April for cock-blocking me.”

Julia laughs and scowls playfully at April. “Gee, thanks, woman!”

“I have no regrets.”

We enter the VIP area and are treated to refreshments. I’m drinking a beer, and the others have joined us while we wait for the movie to start.

“I’m trying to convince April that she would be an awesome actress,” Julia tells us.

“Noooo,” April says, drawing out the word. “I’m a singer, not an actress.”

“You can’t tell me that your acting in the Stars For An Angel music video wasn’t just as good as in any scene I’ve done, and I’ve won an Emmy. It’ll be a learning curve, but you would be so good.”

Heather smiles at Julia and nods. “I totally agree. That music video is awesome. I was blown away the first time I saw it.”

“I dunno. Maybe, I’ll talk to my agent. See whether I could even fit anything in with my recording and touring schedules.” April shrugs her shoulders.

We talk for another fifteen minutes or so before we’re told to head into the theater. We’re given pouches to put our phones in, which are locked on our way inside. We make our way to the seats in the area we’ve been designated, and I end up sitting between April and Gabriel.

There’s a lot of general chatter happening, and April tilts her head toward mine and asks quietly, “How are Heather and Harrison holding up? I didn’t want to ask.”

I look along the row to where they’re smiling and talking with a rock star we know and his actress wife in the row behind them.

I turn back to April and sigh. “Yeah, it’s hard. Hopefully, he gets found guilty, and it’ll be over soon.”
