“Hey there, lover. I see you brought your lovely fiancée and her bestie to us. You can leave now. You’ve served your purpose.” Heather gives me a wicked grin.
“You’re not having dinner with us, Sebastian?” Becky asks.
“Yes, I am. Heather just thinks she’s funny.” I roll my eyes, and Heather laughs.
She stands up and gives all three of us a hug before sitting down again. Becky sits down next to Heather, and Lita sits down next to Becky while I stand behind Lita and wrap my arms around her.
We talk as Ariana pulls a beef roast and vegetables out of the oven. The rest of the guys, along with Soggy Flake, arrive not much later, just as Ariana finishes making the gravy for our dinner.
“It smells amazing, sweetheart,” Gabriel tells her as he walks into the kitchen to give her a hug.
“Thanks. Can you set the table?” Ariana smiles at him.
We all help Gabriel take the dishes and cups out to the table, then Ariana brings the food out. She’s carved the roast beef into slices, and everyone serves themselves from the dishes on the table.
“This is delicious, Ariana,” Lita says as she takes her first bite.
“Thanks. Roast beef is kind of my specialty.” Ariana smiles at her.
“I can’t believe that I’m eating dinner at Gabriel Knight’s house,” Becky says to them both.
Ariana laughs and tells her, “The first time I came here, I was freaking out. I was a fan of Cruise Control too.”
“I just realized that I’ll be staying at Sebastian’s place tonight and going to Harrison’s place tomorrow.” Becky shakes her head in amazement.
“Yup, I was wondering when you’d figure that out. You’ll hit Cruise Control bingo this weekend.” Lita laughs.
I can’t help but laugh as well. “Cruise Control bingo, indeed. What a prize. Aren’t you lucky, Becky?”
“Well, I mean, I’m not engaged to Sebastian Fox and having a baby with him, so am I really that lucky?”
“I guess not.” I grin at her.
Lita cringes and rubs her baby bump. “She’s beating me up right now, so I’m not sure I’m that lucky at all.”
I lean over and put my arm around her before I give her a kiss, then rub her bump. “Not much longer to go, princess.”
After we finish dinner, Hayden grabs some board games that he’s brought with him for us to play. We choose a co-operative game where you have to stop a global pandemic but ultimately lose when I flip a card that causes an outbreak in Baghdad.
“Way to go, Seb,” Harrison teases me.
“Hey, Hayden’s the one who shuffled the cards.” I grin at him.
Gabriel gets us all another round of drinks, and we move on to a card game where one person reads the black card out loud, and the rest of the players have to choose their funniest white card to fill in the blank. We’re all in hysterics by the time we’ve played a few rounds.
“They should totally make a Cruise Control version of this game,” Lita says as she laughs so hard that she has tears in her eyes.
“Oh my god. Speaking of Cruise Control games, when is the game being released?” Becky asks her.
“It needs a little bit more work, but then I’ll get you and some other people to beta test it. I thought that Gabriel’s birthday might be a good day to release it.” Lita looks up at Gabriel. “If you’re okay with that, of course.”
“Sounds great, Lita.” Gabriel smiles at her.
It’s after one in the morning when we say goodbye to Gabriel and Ariana and head downstairs so we can go home. I have my arm around Lita, and she rests her head against my chest in the car as we drive home.
Becky says, “Today has been, hands down, the best day of my life.”
“I’m glad you’ve enjoyed yourself.” I smile at her.
