We start with “Rules To Break,” and while we’re singing the chorus, I smile at Lita. Becky looks absolutely amazed, a bit like Lita did the first time she came in here to watch us rehearse.
We play all of the songs onGames We Playbecause we'll be playing those songs the most on the tour.
When we’ve played through the full album, Gabriel asks, “Anything you’d particularly like to hear, Becky?”
Becky’s eyes widen. “Holy shit, yes. Umm, can you play ‘Midnight Rebellion’?”
It’s from our first album and was one of our biggest hits.
“Sure,” Gabriel smiles at her.
We begin to play Becky’s song, and she grins brightly the whole time we’re playing it. I smile as I watch the two women exchange conversation quietly as they watch us.
Lita and I have settled into a nice life together at Galena. She does video game coding during the day while I go into the studio to write music. Sometimes, she joins me in the studio while I work. It’s nice, and I’m pretty sure that aside from the tour, we’re going to spend most of our time out there.
We continue to ask Becky and Lita what songs they want to hear, and after we’ve done most of our catalogue, I say, “What if we play a few of the ones that didn’t make the album?”
“Oh my god, really?!” Lita gasps as she stares at me with wide eyes.
I grin at the guys before I turn back to her. “I mean, only if you guys are interested. You’re probably not, though.”
“Shut up and play those songs, Sebastian Fox. I wouldn’t want to have to hurt you,” Becky laughs.
We play three songs that we decided against putting onGames We Play. I laugh as we play the second one and turn to the guys.
“Oh man, who knew that I would one day actually need a baby monitor?” They laugh as I turn back to the women sitting on the sofa. “Hey, Princess, there’s already a baby monitor in the studio out at Galena.”
“Huh? Why?” She looks confused.
“We wanted a really specific sound for the bridge of this song. So Gabriel and I went to a baby shop and bought a baby monitor for Hayden to play the drums through. I’m surprised it didn't start baby rumors back then, to be honest!” I laugh at her.
“Can we hear that version?” Becky asks.
“Sure. I can play it for you when we get home tonight. I should have the files somewhere on my computer.”
When the rehearsal finishes, we say goodbye to the others and head back down to the SUV.
“Are we picking up dinner on the way home?” Becky asks.
“Nope,” Lita smiles.
Becky narrows her eyes at Lita. “Why do you have that grin on your face, Lolita Ciccone?”
“We have dinner plans,” Lita tells her.
When we pull into the garage underneath Gabriel and Ariana’s apartment building, Becky asks, “Whose place is this, then?”
“How do you know it’s not mine?” I tease her.
“Just a hunch.”
Lita laughs. “You’ll see.”
We head up in the elevator and lead Becky to number 37B before I say, “Go ahead and knock, Becky.”
Ariana smiles at us when she opens the door. “Hey, Becky. It’s nice to see you again. Come in.”
We walk inside, and Ariana leads us to the kitchen, where Heather is sitting at the counter.
