“So much for not marrying Sebastian Fox even if you were paid a million dollars,” Becky smirks at Lita.
I burst into laughter, then lean forward and whisper in Lita’s ear, “Did you only agree to marry mebecauseI paid you a million dollars, princess?”
She shakes her head and says, “A lot of things have changed since June.”
“No kidding. I miss you, dude. When are you coming back to Seattle?”
“I’m not sure; I’ll have to see how it goes. As long as we’re given the all-clear, I’ll be going on theGames We Playtour, so probably after that.”
We came to this decision recently when we were discussing the tour. Both of us knew that we didn’t want to be separated for that long, even though Lita was worried about the logistics of taking a newborn baby on a concert tour. I was so relieved when she agreed to come along because, with everything that’s happened, I just don’t ever want to be away from them.
Becky sighs. “I hate you, Sebastian. You stole my best friend.”
“Should we tell her where we’re going now, princess?” I ask Lita with a laugh.
“Nah, let’s make her wait,” Lita grins.
“Wait? Where are we going? I thought we were going back to your apartment?” Becky’s eyebrows are raised in surprise.
“We’re definitely going toanapartment; it’s just not ours,” I tease her.
“You’re not making me hate you any less,” Becky warns me.
I just laugh at her comment. “Maybe not, but it’s so muchmore fun to makeyou wait.”
Eventually, we pull into the garage underneath Hayden’s apartment building in Chicago. Daryl and Ben escorted us in the elevator up to Hayden’s apartment.
When the doors open and we walk into his apartment, Hayden greets us with a friendly smile on his face. “Hi, guys. Hey Becky, good to see you again.”
“Oh my god! Hi, Hayden. What are we doing at Hayden’s?” Becky asks as she walks past him further into the room. She comes to a grinding halt when she sees Gabriel and Harrison sitting on a sofa nearby. “Holy shit.”
I’m amused to see Becky have the same reaction that Lita used to have when she was around the guys.
Lita laughs. “It’s so nice to not be the only fangirl around here for once.”
“Hi, Becky, how are you?” Harrison asks.
“Good. Surprised. What is happening right now?”
“The guys have a rehearsal, and we’re going to watch. If you want to, of course,” Lita tells her.
“Fuck, yes!” Becky exclaims, and we all laugh.
Hayden takes us from the living room, down a long hallway, and opens the door at the end to his rehearsal room. It’s a massive, soundproofed room with all of our instruments set up in it.
“Wow, this is insane, Hayden,” Becky gasps.
Hayden laughs. “I practice more often than these slackers, and the drums can’t exactly be played in an apartment building without pissing people off, so it made sense for me to have the rehearsal room.”
“Pfft, as if I don’t practice every day,” I joke.
“I could count on one hand the number of times I’ve seen you pick up a guitar since I met you, and I think these guys were all there each time,” Lita teases me.
“Shh, princess, do you want me to get kicked out of the band or something?”
Everyone laughs as we grab our instruments and start to rehearse while Lita and Becky sit on a sofa to watch us.
I pick up my guitar and strum it. I love playing guitar, and everything feels right when I have my instrument in my hands.
