I stand and lean over her, coming to a stop when my face is hovering just above hers. “Say that again.”

“I love you too,” Lita tells me with a smile on her face.

Then, I kiss her.

The next day,I call Harrison in the morning and he answers in a cheerful voice. “Hi, Seb. How are you doing?”

“Great.” I love that it’s true now. “Is your wife around?”

“No, she’s at work. Why?”

“Because she’s got a big mouth,” I say with a grin. “I need to know where you got her engagement ring.”

“You’re going to propose to Lita?” he gasps.

“That reaction is why I checked that my lover wasn’t there, first,” I laugh. “Yes, I’m planning on proposing, but not until the time is right, and I want it to actually be a surprise so you can’t tell her.”

He tells me the name of the jeweler and says to ask for someone named Dominic. I call and say who I am and what I want before I’m booked in for an appointment this afternoon. I let Harrison know, and he agrees I can use him as an excuse so Lita doesn’t know where I’m going.

My plan is almost ruined when Hayden comes to visit with a bunch of flowers and some chocolates for Lita about half an hour before I have to leave. I’ve been sitting with Lita all day when he arrives.

“Hi, guys,” he says with a massive smile at us.

“Hayden, hi.” Lita smiles back at him.

I’m in the chair next to Lita and holding her hand in mine. I nod at him, and I couldn’t be happier right now.

He places the flowers and chocolates on a table nearby and says, “These are for you, Lita.” She thanks him as he sits in a chair on the other side of the bed, and he says, “I’m so happy for you guys.”

I let everyone know last night, and I think they’re all happy for us. Heather’s know-it-all attitude was pretty much unbearable, of course, but she did make me laugh.

“Thanks, Hayden. I’m told you kept my secret while giving Lita about as many hints as you could possibly give, despite her not getting them at all,” I tease her and she flushes pink.

“Hey. Things were a bit complicated, and I wasn’t sure I wanted to ask you about the other women when we had a ground rule that I wouldn’t.” She shrugs.

I laugh and kiss her before saying, “I know. I’m just teasing you, princess.”

When it’s time for me to leave, I say casually, “I’m going to Harrison’s, but I can always come back if you need me, princess. Otherwise I’ll be back tomorrow.”

“Huh? I spoke to Harrison just before, and he didn’t mention you were heading around?” Hayden frowns at me, and I have to stop myself from groaning.

“Weird. We haven’t hung out in a while, so we were going to play some video games. Want to come with me?” I offer quickly, not wanting Lita to realize I’m lying, but especially not wanting her to think that I’m doing anything shady.

“Sure. That sounds like fun.” Hayden grins at me.

“Will you be okay on your own, princess?” I ask her.

She nods and smiles. “Sure. You’ve been here all day. I could do with some sleep anyway.”

I laugh and kiss both Lita and her bump before I leave, with Hayden following me. As soon as we’re out of earshot of Lita, I shove him playfully.

“You almost fucking ruined everything, bro.”

“Huh? What?” He stops walking and stares at me.

“I’m going to get a necklace to propose to Lita,” I laugh.
