“When you say it, it’s practically an insult,” she tells me but grins back.

I’m not sure that things will ever be the same between us, and I don’t want them to be. Lita is the woman I love now. Even though I’ll always love Heather, she is not the priority for me anymore.

“Forgive me, lover?” I ask.

Heather laughs and leans down to hug me. “Of course I do. I don’t approve of what you’re doing; you should know that much, but…I’ll try not to meddle.”

“I’ll believe it when I see it,” I smirk at her because she’s still her.

“Shut up,” Heather says as she sits down on the sofa next to Lita, and she smiles at her. “Oh my god, your bump is so obvious now. I think the dress you wore last weekend was hiding it.”

“Yeah, I feel like I’m getting fatter by the minute,” Lita laughs.

“You’re not fat, Lita; you’re growing a baby!” Heather scolds her. “Okay, we’d better get going. I designed your dress so that we’d have some wiggle room for sizing, but we’ve got work to do. I also need to pick up Megan on the way.”

“Who’s Megan?” Lita asks.

Heather smiles. “She’s this gorgeous fan that I met last year. Her mom is amazing, and now Megan helps me out sometimes at Serenity as an intern. When she finishes school, I’m going to give her a job.”

“Wow, that’s kind of awesome, Heather.”

“Heather even invited Megan to her wedding,” I tell Lita, then laugh as I remember it. “I thought her head was going to explode when she met Gabriel and me.”

“Yeah, that was pretty cute,” Heather agrees. “Anyway, we should go. We’ll see you tomorrow, Seb.”

She gives me another hug, and I wrap my arms around her with a smile on my face. Then Lita hugs me and, god, it’s so good. I pull her tightly against me and she relaxes into me, and everything is right with the world for a few moments. I love her so much, and I’m sad I won’t see her until tomorrow now.

“Bye, Seb, I’ll see you tomorrow.”

I let go of her and say, “See you later, princess.”

I watch her walk away, enjoying the view of her ass as she leaves, then I’m left alone in my apartment. It’s almost strange to be back here, but I guess I’m going to have to get used to it. I head over to the pool table and play a couple of games against myself before I pull out my guitar.

It feels like forever since I’ve actually played because I didn’t have it with me in Seattle. I think about the song I want to write using the baby’s heartbeat and try to find a melody that would work with the song. After a while, I think about Lita and try to play music that matches my feelings.

I think I finally understand why Gabriel felt the need to write a whole album about Ariana when she left him. I have a strong urge to write songs about Lita. About how amazing she is, about the night we met, about the pain I’m feeling because of her rejection, and about all the things I would do to her if I had her in bed with me. There are so many things I could sing using her as inspiration.

I play for maybe an hour before I put away my guitar. I stream some music and have it play through the sound system that has speakers in each room of my apartment. I enjoy listening to the music as I take a shower and pack a bag ready to leave, along with the suit bag with the tuxedo I’m wearing tomorrow. The guys and I are taking a limousine to the hotel where the wedding is being held, and we’re going to hang out, then stay the night, ready for the big day. When the guys arrive, Daryl escorts me downstairs to the limousine, and I slide onto the seat.

“Look who’s back in Chicago!” Gabriel grins at me as the limousine starts moving.

“Did you miss me?” I laugh.

“Not really. We basically forgot you existed,” Gabriel teases me. “Out of sight, out of mind.”

“What’s your name again? I’m Hayden Vega,” he says and holds his hand out to shake mine.

I flip him the bird, and he laughs. They all have glasses of whisky, and Harrison pours me one.

“Thanks,” I say as I take it off him. “Well, it’s good to be home, and for a very happy occasion. Congratulations, Gabriel!”

I lift my glass, and he clinks his against mine. “Thanks.”

I’ve only just finished my drink when we reach the hotel. The limo takes us to the back entrance, where we enter from the rear. We check in, and our stuff is taken upstairs to our suites by hotel staff, but we all go to Gabriel’s.

I sit next to Harrison on the sofa as Gabriel pours drinks and Hayden sets up a poker game at the table. I’m reminded of what Hayden said to me earlier in the week, and I look at Harrison while frowning at him.

“Hey, do I owe you an apology for the bachelor party?”
