Since tonight, apparently. On the upside, it seems like I won’t be having a pillow fight with you after all.
I grin as Lita bends over in front of me to take a turn, and I check out her ass. I joked with Heather last night that if the fans tonight weren’t hot, I’d ditch them to hang out with her and Ariana. There’s no damn way I would miss out on any time with Lita, not until I’ve had her, at least.
I laugh when Heather replies to my text.
Well, that’s a shame. Don’t forget to suit up, though. No glove, no love.
I’ve never had sex with a woman without a condom on, and Heather damn well knows it.
Of course. Now, stop texting me. I’m trying to focus on Lita kicking your husband’s ass.
It doesn’t take long for Lita to beat Harrison before doing the same to Gabriel. God knows why Hayden volunteers himself up as fresh meat for her to devour as well, but he does.
On his third shot of the match, she says, “Stop. You just go for the obvious play. You need to think about where the white ball will end up, assuming you sink the ball you’re aiming for.
“Okay, so even if you sink the number six, you’re left up the opposite end of the table to the rest of the solids. All of my stripes and the eight ball will be between you. Try going for the number seven instead.”
He sinks the seven, as well as the number five, before he misses out on sinking the number-one ball. “Wow, you really are good.”
“Agoodfriend gives you tips to try and help you get better; they don’t just relish kicking your ass every time they play you,” she tells him with a wink.
“Did you hear that, Seb?” Hayden laughs as he looks at me. “Lita told me you’re not a good friend. I always suspected that was the case.”
I roll my eyes at him because nothing she said was any different from things I’ve told him a thousand times before. “Talk to me if she’s still willing to give you pool-playing tips in another six months after she’s lost patience with trying to improve your skills.”
“If it helps, Sebastian,” Becky laughs at me, “Lita stopped trying to give me pool-playing tips about a decade ago. I just refuse to play against her now. Problem solved.”
“I like you, Becky.” I smile at Lita’s friend and say meaningfully, “You can call me Seb.”
Lita rolls her eyes at me, but Becky says, “Thanks, Seb.”
To my amusement, Lita doesn’t respond further, just sinks her final two balls before announcing, “Eight ball, center pocket.”
“Why wouldn’t you go for the corner pocket?” Hayden asks.
I’m reminded of a pool game we played years ago, and I joke, “That’s why she’s the pool shark, not you.”
My friends all laugh, but Lita shrugs and says, “Most people go for the corner pockets because they seem easier. The center pockets are actually wider, but they can present odd angles, and you don’t have two sides of the table to line up against. I’ll take a center pocket over a corner pocket any day, though, if I’ve got the choice.”
Our laughter has stopped, and we all stare at Lita. I haveneverheard someone explain about the angles of the pockets. I don’t know whether I should be as turned on as I am, but fucking hell is her love of my favorite gameveryattractive.
“Shit,” Gabriel says slowly. “She reallyisa pool shark.”
“Sheis the cat’s mother, Gabriel Knight,” she laughs at him. “And I’m not a pool shark; I’ve just been playing for a long, longtime.”
“What did you say you do for a living?” Hayden asks.
“I’m a video game programmer,” she replies as she steps forward and bends over in front of me to aim for the black ball.
I allow my gaze to travel down to her ass before I take a step forward to watch over her shoulder as she takes her turn.
“Sorry, Seb, she’s too good for you,” Harrison grins at me.
Lita stands up from sinking the black ball, and because I’m so close to her, when she turns to face me, there’s not even a foot of space between us. She looks up at me with wide eyes, and her breathing is shallow.
I think about everything I know about her, and I realize that Harrison is probably right. She’s almost certainly too good for me. Luckily, I have a stellar track record of turning good girls bad.
“You don’t have any interest in a lowly guitar player, smart, Italian, pool shark, programmer lady?”
