I don’t think that’s a lie, either. I know that Heather was really upset with Ariana for a long time, but I feel like she’s been softening toward her the more that Ariana proves she’s not going to repeat what happened duringCards Have Been Dealt.

I’m back in my suite, getting dressed into a tuxedo for the event, and am about to pull on my shirt when Heather calls me. I smile and answer her call.

“Hi, honey,” she greets me.

“Hello, angel,” I answer, feeling a wave of desire for her wash over me at the sound of her voice.

“God, I miss you so much,” she says.

The longing is obvious in her voice, and I ache to have her in my arms. Every fiber of my being is filled with a need to be with her.

“I miss you, too. Less than twenty-four hours, and I’ll be home,” I assure her.

“Not a moment too soon. I’m going to fuck your brains out the minute I see you.”

My cock stirs in my trousers as I imagine myself buried deep inside Heather, and I laugh as I ask, “Is that a promise?”

“You bet your sweet, fucking ass it is,” she promises me.

I need to get back to Seb’s suite, where we’re all meeting to head down to dinner. So I change the topic to stop myself from getting a full-blown erection, and resist the urge to initiate phone sex with her.

“How did the rehearsal go?” I ask, trying to ignore my arousal.

“It went really well; I’m feeling much less nervous now.”

It’s good that the rehearsal has given her more confidence about the performance later. I wish that I could stay on the phone with her for longer, but I’m aware that time is getting away from me.

“I’m glad. I have to go, angel,” I inform her, wishing again that I didn’t, or that I was there with her instead. “I’ll talk to you later. Love you so much.”

“I love you too, honey.”

I smile as I hang up the call. I’m the luckiest man in the world to have Heather. I think about our life together and sigh with contentment. I can’t wait to see her tomorrow.

I set my phone aside and quickly finish getting dressed before heading back to Sebastian’s suite. He’s only half-dressed, and the others arrive while he’s still getting ready. Hayden helps me tie my bow tie, a skill I have never managed to perfect, but he’s a pro at it.

Fifteen minutes later, I call out, “Sebastian, we have to gonow.”

Ihatebeing late. Even if we leave right now, we’re going to be there ten minutes after we were meant to arrive.

It’s another five minutes before he appears wearing a tuxedo of his own, and he announces, “I don’t understand why they’re holding a Halloween charity event that’s black tie. Shouldn’t we be in costumes?”

“Such a heathen,” Gabriel teases him. “You need to be more suave and sophisticated, like me.”

“You have a fuckingman bun, Gabriel Knight,” Hayden laughs.

“A neat man bun, though,” he points out, and laughs as well.

My blood pressure is rising with every second we’re not heading to the event, so I snap, “Can we just head downstairs, please? We’re already late.”

“Yes, sir!” Gabriel salutes me.

I roll my eyes and shake my head as I lead the way to the door.

Sebastian laughs behind me, “Ease up on him, Gabriel. Heather’s not here to relieve his tension…and she was worried aboutmyblue balls; she should’ve been worried about Harrison’s.”

“Heather was worried aboutyounot getting enough sex, of all people?” Hayden laughs.

“Yeah, your girlfriend, too. They wanted to remind me to wear a condom tonight.”
