IS AN ENGAGEMENT ON THE HORIZON?
Cruise Control bass guitarist, Harrison Fletcher, was spotted in a jewelry store in downtown Chicago this week. Rumor has it that he was picking up an engagement ring to propose to his longtime girlfriend, Heather York.
Maybe Heather will be wearing a diamond ring when her fashion line, Serenity, has its debut at New York Fashion Week in September? The talk of the town is that the designs are good, even if her label only got invited because she’s dating one of the world’s biggest rock stars.
It’s also possible Harrison was just picking up some bling for himself to celebrate turning thirty on the 6th of June. His party is being held at Club Delirium on Saturday, and we managed to get a sneak peek at the guest list, which included stars like Darius Thompson and April Conway.
Harrison is the first of the Cruise Control boys to turn thirty. Hayden celebrates the milestone this coming October, while Gabriel and Sebastian still have another year to wait. We’ve heard whispers they’ll also be recording a new album this year…and maybe celebrating a wedding? Who knows!

Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend
A brunette woman with a bright smile greets me as the security guards let me into the high-end jewelers for my appointment.
“Mr. Fletcher, my name’s Julie. Follow me, please.” She sounds nervous, and I wonder if she’s a fan.
I nod and follow her across the room to a desk with a chair in front of it. There are four desks in the store, with partitions at the sides of the desk, providing some kind of privacy to the customers.
It’s busy, and the other three desks are occupied, but two of the three other couples watch me with interest as I walk across the room. Hopefully, I can pick up Heather’s ring and be out of here before anyone manages to put anything on social media because I don’t want this surprise spoiled.
“Dominic will be out in a moment, sir,” she tells me as I sit down in the chair.
“Thanks for your help,” I say, smiling at her.
“You’re welcome. It was lovely to mee—serve you today.” She flushes red and scurries away.
Yup. Definitely a fan. I’m in a band called Cruise Control with my best friends and we’re kind of a big deal. Our first album came out a few years ago, and we won several Grammys for it. We got another Grammy for our second album earlier this year, so pretty much everyone on the planet knows who we are at this point. It means I have weird interactions with people all the time.
Dominic enters the room through a door in the back. He’s carrying a ring box carefully in front of him on a velvet-lined tray. He beams at me as he sits down on the other side of the desk, and I stare at the box. My heart is pounding in my chest. What if it’s not as good as I hoped it would be?
“Mr. Fletcher, it’s good to see you again.”
Dominic is much more professional and gave no hint about knowing who I was when I was here designing this ring with him two weeks ago.
“Thanks. It’s good to see you too.” I nod at the box in front of me, and I can’t wipe the grin off my face as I ask, “Is that it?”
“Yes, it is.” Dominic flips up the lid of the ring box and I gasp.
The ring has a large, oval diamond set in its center. It has a pink diamond on the sides and a split band which is set with a cascade of diamonds. It’s even more stunning than the sketch Dominic came up with when I was here last.
“It’s amazing,” I tell him, shaking my head in awe. I can’t seem to stop staring at the beautiful piece of jewelry in front of me. “You’ve done a brilliant job.”
“Thank you. It was truly an honor to work on this piece. I’m very pleased with the result.”
“You should be.” I look up at him and smile. “Now I just have to ask her and hope she says yes.”
I know that I shouldn’t have any doubt that Heather will say yes, but I’ve been internally freaking out from the moment I ordered the ring. What if she says no? I mean, she won’t, but what if she does?
“I’m sure she’ll be very happy to say yes tothisring,” Dominic smiles at me.
I look back down at it and nod. “Yeah, Heather will love it. I can’t wait for her to see it; her reaction is going to be amazing.”
“Tonight will be a night to remember, that’s for sure. Might I say happy birthday, Mr. Fletcher?”
I laugh and nod my head. “Thanks. Oh god, I’m so nervous that I’d forgotten tonight is meant to be a party for me.”
