“She’s right. I actually love you, but just hate your legs, ass, stomach, and tits. It’ll be awhile until I’ll fit in those dresses again. I’m stuck wearing a maternity dress I ordered since I wasn’t due to have the twins yet. Anyway, that looks amazing, but I still want to see you in the other dresses.” Morgan said.
I tried on a blue one, then a pink one, then a nude one, then a green one. I was getting tired of it then Steph pulled a baby blue and white one from a garment bag. “Yes, that one!” Morgan said. “I wore that one to the Cannes Film Festival three years ago. That designer became famous after I wore it. I have the perfect jewelry too.” She went to her jewelry box and put a necklace andbracelet on me. “Ever think about getting your ears pierced?” She asked.
“No, especially not while my mama is here. She would have a heart attack.” I put the shoes on that Morgan chose for the dress. We even had the same shoe size.
Heidi began playing with my hair. “What do you think? Up or down?” She asked the audience.
“Up, Axton deserves to see that gorgeous neckline.” Steph said.
I cleared my throat and didn’t look at her.
“I hear your brother is interested in becoming a fireman. He is spending a lot of time with Patrick.” Kayla said.
“He also liked the private investigators job, so I don’t know.” He didn’t know either.
“He could just keep working for tips.” Melissa laughed and I rolled my eyes.
“We’re not going there.” I warned her.
“I just wonder how we walks with one swinging so low.” Melissa joked and everyone burst out in laughter, but me.
“Could someone please unzip me?”
We didn’t have long to get a dress picked out for everyone that needed one. I was going to do the alterations and thank God I didn’t need any. All the Originals were at the medical center with Magnus and the other injured people. I hadn’t seen Michael yet. He probably knew what was going on and didn’t want to see me quite yet. Kayla was also sweating it and found it odd that he hadn’t come to find us.
We had a system. Morgan’s mom pinned the girls dresses, and I was already sewing. Thankfully, Morgan had a sewing machine she never used. Jenny knew how to do alterations, but woulddo the beading while I used the machine. Kayla helped with all three babies because Karter was at work and the new nanny hadn’t started yet. Jenny and I worked for hours, and the girls were coming back later that night for a final fitting. We were lucky Morgan had so many dresses and she didn’t mind giving them to the girls once they were altered. When I saw the two bedrooms she had filled with clothes, costumes, jewelry safes, shoes, and everything else under the sun I was amazed, then she confessed she had more down on the basement level and her bedroom closet. She even had one closet just for handbags. Another closet had makeup, costume jewelry, perfumes, and other things companies sent her to try.
“Were you allowed to play with toys when you were little?” Kayla asked as she bounced baby Olivia on her knee.
“Of course, they were all handed down, but I had toys. My favorite one was a little kitchen set from the 1950’s that belonged to my oldest sister. She got it new.” I was still sewing, and Jenny lifted a brow.
“You have a sister that was alive in the 1950’s?” Jenny was shocked.
“Of course. My papa was ninety five and had a total of sixteen wives in his lifetime. There were a few that didn’t have any luck having children, though.”
“Let me get this straight. You’re twenty three and your father was older than my children’s great grandfather?” Jenny was still trying to make sense of it.
“I guess so.” I cut the thread then moved the dress around to work on the sleeve. It was Heidi’s dress, and she looked gorgeous in it.
“My grandpa is only in his sixties.” Kayla said.
I looked up and saw Creed in the door with Addie at his side. “Belle, can we talk for a minute?”
“Sure.” I made sure the needle was down then stood to walk away with Creed.
“Addie, can you stay here with Aunt Kayla and grandma for a minute?” He asked.
“Yeah, I wanna play with baby Olivia.” Addie spoke perfectly and I was so proud of her.
Creed took me to his office downstairs and shut the door. “How would you feel about staying here tonight? Obviously Morgan has everything you need.”
My heart raced. “Michael won’t see me?”
“Have a seat.” He joined me on his office sofa. “He spent some time with Magnus then took care of a few things. He knows everything and he just needs to think. Granger and Baros are at your place and they’re having some drinks..”
“He’s that mad at me?” I felt the tears building.
“No, he’s worried about you, but isn’t sure how to approach you. Those texts didn’t tell the whole story. He needs to talk with Faye then think about things before he talks with you.”
