“That’s amazing,” she pointed the glass with her long red fingernail. How the hell did she make cookies with those nails? “You are another one, aren’t you? I knew there was no way I could miss this jaw line when I was sober.”

“Busted,” Tyler said with a charming smile.

Please, Universe, don’t let them fuck while I sleep under the same roof.

“Join us over there,” she pointed to the couch where more limbs were tangled than ten minutes ago. Madison and her ex were gone, and I hoped they had the decency to use her bedroom and not a nearby corner. “The others won’t mind.”

“Of course they won’t.” I had enough of it. “He’s the bride’s older brother and the groom’s best man.”

She was so drunk she didn’t notice, but Tyler’s eyes narrowed in on me.

“I had no idea Clem’s brother was so hot,” she tried to whisper to me, but it came out way too loud, so no doubt he heard her. “Coming?” She asked us both. I shook my head. I wanted a moment alone before I went back there.

“I have to use the bathroom.”

“The one next to the kitchen is occupied by Madison and one of the strippers. If you know what I mean.” She said and winked at Tyler. I made a disgusted face. Not because Madison was having sex in the bathroom, but because that girl had the nerve to say it just like that. Apparently Tyler didn’t understand my expression, because he leaned closer and whispered in my ear.

“Don’t judge. You were in a similar situation not so long ago. At least Madison is single.”

I whirled around ready to rip him a new one, even though he was technically right, but he put his hand on that girl’s back and they left me sitting alone at the bar. I took my time in the bathroom, trying to sort out my emotions and when I got back, she was an inch away from sitting in Tyler’s lap, one of her hands placed on his thigh. He didn’t look like he minded that at all.

Walking past them, I sat next to Lucas and Clem and forced myself not to look in Tyler’s direction for the next hour. I didn’t know if there was any action going on, but I knew I wasn’t ready to see what was happening on the other side of that huge couch.

At some point Lucas and Clem both looked up and I followed their gazes. Tyler was standing up, explaining something to the girl. I couldn’t hear anything, but I saw her pouting.

“Your employee has a boner for Tyler,” Lucas said to Clem with his usual nonchalance.

“Ugh,” Clem made a gagging sound. “I hope I don’t have to watch him make out with her. Madison was enough for one evening.”

“I think he’s leaving…Wait. Madison made out with someone in public?”

“Yes. And I am pretty sure she used the commotion when you arrived earlier to sneak him into her bedroom.”

“The bathroom next to the kitchen,” I said, and they both looked at me wide-eyed. “Tyler’s fan girl told me,” I explained. Clem shot me a look. Could she see that I was jealous?

“She probably planned to drag him there,” Lucas wiggled his eyebrows.

I allowed myself another glance and found Tyler talking to Madison’s ex. As if he sensed again I was watching him, he turned and looked straight at me. He continued talking without tearing his eyes away from mine. Then he pointed at me with his chin and the other one turned to look at me. They laughed for a moment, then it was only Tyler gazing at me again. I rose a brow not at all impressed with his attempt to embarrass me. A crooked smile appeared on his face. When he finished his conversation and slowly approached us.

“It was fun, kiddos, but I am tired. I will head out with the boys.” He pointed to the strippers.

“It’s one o’clock in the morning,” Clem said. “And we have two more free bedrooms. The boys can spend the night, right?” She asked me.

“I guess,” I mumbled. “Sure. Why not.”

“We should all go to bed. I’ve had enough of partying,” Clem added. Tyler leaned in and kissed her cheek.

“You look tired,” I heard him whisper to her. “You have to take care of my niece.” Then he straightened up.

“Your niece?” She asked with a smile.

“A hunch,” he shrugged. They shared a long look, then Clem turned to me.

“Do you mind calling it a night?”

“Go,” I waved a hand. “I’ll wait for the others to get bored.”

“Thank you,” Clem said with relief in her voice. “I will show you the free bedrooms.” Then she dragged Tyler away. Lucas and I looked their way for a moment.
