“Yeah, you like that?” he breathes.
“Yes,” I pant.
“You want me to fill you up?”
“Yes, yes, please.”
He grabs my hips, pulling me back, impaling me on his length. I cry out, and his grip tightens. He sets a relentless pace, his thrusts deep and powerful. His hips snap forward, filling me again and again, and my whole body is aflame. I can’t hold back the moans that pour from my lips.
He wraps his hand around my throat, pulling me up and flush against him. The angle changes, and he hits a spot inside me that has me seeing stars.
His movements become harder, faster, and his free hand finds its way to my clit, circling and stroking. The combination of his hand, his cock, and his words is too much. The pressure builds until I fall apart, screaming his name as the orgasm overtakes me. He continues pounding into me, prolonging the wave of pleasure.
“God, Isadora,” he growls. “I love watching you come.”
After another minute, his thrusts become erratic, and he spills inside me.
He turns me around and kisses me, his tongue moving in tandem with mine. Pulling back, he rests his forehead against mine. His eyes meet mine, full of adoration and wonder.
“Isadora,” he whispers. “That was… you are…”
“Magnificent,” I finish.
He laughs, his face lighting up. His hands cup my cheeks. “You’re incredible,” he says. “And not just because of this.”
But I have to break eye contact as he says it. With everything that’s happened, I haven’t had a chance to tell him about the baby. And right now, I’m not feeling brave enough.
I push the thoughts away and pull him into a soft, sweet kiss, relishing the taste of him, the smell of him, the feel of his lips on mine.
He wraps his arms around me, and we sink down onto the couch, wrapped in each other’s arms, content and spent. Everything else can wait.
For now, this is all we need.
Chapter 23 - Alec
Watching Isadora leave to track the demon is nothing short of agonizing. My mind wants to be anywhere else but here, standing at the edge of our territory while she’s out there, following an injured demon like it’s just another day at work. She insisted this was the best shot we had, that she could handle it, and maybe—probably—she’s right. Doesn’t mean it sits any better with me.
The second they’re out of sight, I turn away, running a hand through my hair and forcing myself to focus on anything else. There are plenty of tasks to keep me busy, dozens of eyes on me, and the pack expects their alpha to handle things here, so here I’ll stay. Besides, having one of us with the pack is logical. It just doesn’t feel that way.
“Good luck keeping the pack in one piece when you’re pacing every few seconds,” Quincey mutters beside me as he follows my stare into the trees.
I shoot him a sharp look, but he’s right. I probably look as steady as a squirrel on a tightrope. I can feel the twitch in my muscles, the way my whole body keeps angling back toward the forest like it’s going to drag me out there whether I want to go or not.
“Look, I’m fine,” I mutter back, more to myself than him. “She’s got a team with her, right? Good trackers, decent fighters, enough backup to keep things under control. If they hit trouble, they’ll regroup, fall back, whatever they need to do.”
Quincey arches an eyebrow. “Yeah, sure, keep talking like that. Maybe it’ll convince you.”
I let out a low growl, more annoyed with myself than him. “They’re only tracking it,” I repeat. “In and out, no confrontations. That was the whole point.”
A few minutes pass, or maybe it’s an hour—hell, it could be half the day for all I know. Time’s dragging, but I’m doing my best to keep it together, to keep that protective instinct in check, like holding back an avalanche with bare hands. Then, from the corner of my eye, I see Jade moving toward me. Her steps are slow and careful, and there’s something in her expression that immediately sets me on edge.
“Jade,” I greet her, nodding. She’s pale, her eyes wide with a quiet terror I don’t see often, not in her.
“Alec,” she says, her voice barely above a whisper, as if speaking any louder would somehow make everything worse.
I don’t like that look. Not on her, not right now. “What is it?” I ask, forcing my tone to stay calm, steady.
Jade takes a deep breath, darting her gaze away for a second before settling on me again. There’s a haunted look in her eyes. “I had a vision.”
