“Fine,” she says tersely. “Enjoy your little fantasy while it lasts.”

With one last icy glare, she turns on her heel and strides away. I let out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding. My pulse is still pounding from the rush of adrenaline.

Alec steps close again with a grin, tugging at the corners of his mouth. “Well, that was impressive. I think you might’ve finally scared her off.”

I shake my head as my own smile creeps up despite myself. “She needed to hear it. And maybe I needed to say it.”

His eyes soften as he reaches for my hand, entwining our fingers with a gentle, possessive squeeze. “For the record, I meant what I said. I’m not going anywhere.”

I glance up at him, catching the sincerity in his eyes, the promise behind his words. My heart does this strange, unsteady flip, and I can feel the heat in my cheeks, a mixture of relief and something much more dangerous.

Without thinking, I give his hand a tug, pulling him a step closer. “I think I’ve had enough of this party.”

“Oh?” His eyebrow quirks, amusement glinting in his gaze as he leans down, voice dropping low. “And what exactly would you rather be doing, Luna?”

I meet his eyes, letting the moment linger, letting him see every intention written in my expression. “Take me home, and I’ll show you.”

The corner of his mouth lifts into that wicked smirk that sends heat racing through me. Without another word, he nods, guiding me through the crowd and out into the cool night air. Every step quickens my pulse. Anticipation hums in the spacebetween us, a promise of what’s to come when we’re finally alone.

Tonight, there’s no hesitation. No walls, no lingering doubts.

Just us, and the thrill of what’s waiting at home.

Chapter 15 - Alec

The second Isadora grabs my hand and tugs me into the woods, I know I’m in trouble. This isn’t some mild attraction simmering between us anymore—it’s wildfire-hot, impossible to ignore. I’m all too aware of her hand in mine, her body just inches away, her confident strides through the dark as she leads the way with that same fire in her eyes that I just saw tearing Molly to shreds.

That confrontation… it was… well, damn, if it wasn’t the hottest thing I’ve seen in a long time. Watching her, my luna, tell Molly exactly where she could stick her petty insults was more satisfying than I’d ever admit.

And it’s probably best I don’t try to, because at this rate, I don’t trust myself to string together a coherent sentence.

“Someone’s in a hurry,” I comment, and a low chuckle escapes me despite the tightness in my chest. My voice sounds rough even to my own ears, but Isadora just glances back. She has that little smirk, the one she gets when she’s planning something dangerous.

“Oh, you noticed?” she teases, her tone as sweet as honey and twice as tempting. She pulls me along faster, and I watch the way her hips sway as she leads us down a path that I could navigate blindfolded, though right now, I’m too distracted by the scent of her in the night air, the quiet rustling of leaves around us, and the memory of her in Molly’s face, fierce as anything.

It takes everything I have to keep my pace measured, not to just grab her and push her up against the nearest tree. We’re so close now, and the last thing I want is to rush this, to ruin the moment.

She glances back at me over her shoulder, and there’s a mischievous glint in her eye as if she knows exactly what she’s doing. “What’s the matter, Alpha? Having trouble keeping up?”

“Funny, Isadora,” I growl softly. “Someone seems pretty eager to get back to our place.”

She laughs, low and husky, and it’s enough to send another jolt straight through me. “Maybe I just have places to be.” She stops, turning to face me, still holding my hand as she takes a small step back, pulling me closer. “And here I thought you’d finally caught on.”

I’m close enough now to see the flush in her cheeks, the way her blue eyes seem brighter, more intense. Close enough to feel her warm breath against my skin. And apparently, close enough for her to reach up, slip her hand to the back of my neck, thread her fingers through my hair, and pull me down until her lips are a whisper away.

“Oh, I’ve caught on,” I tell her as I let my hands settle on her waist, holding her just tight enough that she can feel the way she’s driving me out of my mind. “But you should know something.”

“Yeah?” She tilts her head, her mouth curving into a smile that’s pure mischief.

I let my hands drift lower to trace her hips, feeling the warmth of her skin through the thin fabric. “I don’t do things halfway. When I start something, I finish it.”

Her breath hitches, and for a moment, she just stares up at me. Her gaze is smoldering. Then she stands on her tiptoes, pressing her body against mine, and her lips brush against my jaw as she whispers, “Good. Because neither do I.”

It’s all the invitation I need. I close the distance, capturing her mouth in a kiss that’s anything but gentle. It’s desperate, hungry, like all the tension between us has finally broken free and now there’s nothing left but the heat and the fire we’ve both been holding back.

She wraps her arms around my neck, pulling me closer, her fingers digging into my shoulders as if she’s afraid I might pull away. Not a chance. I deepen the kiss, letting her feel exactly how much she’s been driving me crazy, how long I’ve been waiting for this moment.

We break apart just long enough to catch our breath, and I take the chance to study her face, her flushed cheeks, her half-lidded eyes. She looks up at me, breathless and smiling, and it’s all I can do not to pull her back in.
