As they clawed at each other, jutting their hips together, sighing and exhaling, Shaya made a decision. She inched toward the window, as slowly as possible, and when she reached the wall, she pressed herself up against it. When no one even noticed her, she turned to look out of the window.

Most of the view was smothered in complete darkness, and Shaya's heart sank. But then she noticed that there was a light shining from below the deck she was on that shone out onto the sea, and if she looked straight down from where she was, she could still see some of the rippling waves as the ship carved its way across the ocean and hear the wind as it whipped past.

She focused on that, staring until the rhythmic waves was the only thing in her mind. It wasn't the best experience, but it was better than nothing. She wasn't sure how long she stood there for, but when the panic felt as though it was dissipating, she took a deep breath and turned back around to find the configuration of bodies had changed.

The chain of bodies on the bed was completely different to how it was before, and the woman and man in a chair seemed to have joined them, or possibly even left the room; Shaya couldn't tell.

The same man lay on the table, but the woman who was once on his face was now bouncing up and down on his cock, while another woman stood on one side of the table sucking on her nipples. Shaya turned her attention toward the door and walked slowly towards it, but this time she did not escape their attention.

“Hall,”called the man on the table.“Feryd ossor.”

Shaya pretended not to hear him, but then he called again, more urgently this time.

“Ryd.”

“What?” she muttered. “I don't understand.”

The man raised his brows. “Oh, Common Tongue. Come here for a moment.”

She froze, not sure what to do.

“Only for… a moment,” the man said, his face contorted in as he let out a groan.

She inched toward him. “I have to get back,” she said, her voice small. “I have to find my cabin.”

“I'll help you find your cabin,” the man murmured while his eyes were rolling back in his head.

“You will?”

The woman on top of him turn and smiled at her. “You should join us,” she said, and then leaned over and took Shaya’s arm and pulled her closer.

As Shaya neared, she noticed that the man's arm on the other side was between the second woman's legs, exploring her.

“Yes, I will help you,” the man said, a growl in his voice. “Just wait a moment.”

Shaya nodded. She didn't hope to get back to her cabin before the shinno, but at least she would get back there and not be lost on this enormous ship.

As she waited, she suddenly felt a touch on her leg. She jumped, but the hand hooked around the back of her knee, and she realized it was the man's hand on the table.

“Don't worry,” he said. “You might as well benefit while you wait, no?” His hand inched up the inside of her thigh.

Shaya stilled for a moment, wondering what to do. She did not want him to touch her the way he was touching the other woman, but part of her was curious. Would it feel the same way as when the shinno did it? If these people were so open about sex, how come he hadn’t brought her to one of these rooms? That seemed to make the most sense if he didn’t want to have sex with her. Maybe she would learn a lot in a room like this, and the people seemed much friendlier and less scary than the shinno. Although she wasn’t sure if he had brought her here, whether she would have gone through with it.

The man's hands began to slip up her tunic. Now was the time to tell him to stop or move away. And as his fingers trailed higher, she immediately decided that she did not want it to happen.

But just as she opened her mouth, the door banged opened and instantly she could feel that the shinno had entered the room.

The next few moments were a blur. His signature growl erupted around her, and she was whipped backward so fast, she had no idea what happened until she was being pressed into his torso, held by one arm. She tried to lift her head, but he kept it pushed down into his chest, and in the meantime, his body jolted harshly and frequently while he spat out hard words, yells, and grunts.

Once Shaya realized he was not going to let her see anything, she kept her eyes tightly shut and tried to cut off the sounds, but it was impossible. Hurried sentences in Mayaros, dull thuds, labored breath, and screams, accompanied by the shinno’s harsh words. She couldn't tell what was going on, but it was not pleasant. The same urge she had to flee in the hall gripped her again, but she couldn’t move.

Then all of a sudden, the shinno was walking, his breath as heavy as his footsteps as he traveled. Clearly they had left the room, but Shaya didn't take any chances annoying him by trying to look around again. She began to tremble at the thought of what he might do once he reached his destination, his body was tense and hard, and it was clear by the involuntary rumbles from his throat that he was still angry.

They turned abruptly a few times and he began speaking again, harsh and sharp, but this time, a woman replied. She sounded older, possibly elderly, but she responded with clear surprise and shock.

They exchanged words, the woman becoming more heated as the shinno spoke at rapid speed. Then came banging, thumping, smashing, while the woman shouted.

“You are frightening her!” the woman suddenly said in the Common Tongue. “Let me keep her here until I have tested it and you can return for her when you calm down.”
