Six months later.
“No,” Asher growled as he leaned back in his leather high-back chair. CJ was in the chair next to me. I’d stopped by their office to have a conversation. I’d learned if they both didn’t like my idea, they would use endless orgasms to make me forget what I’d asked to begin with. But now I was in Asher’s office on an even playing field.
“You didn’t even listen to my entire plan,” I pointed out. “It’s a girls' trip. Are you both so controlling that you won’t allow me to go away for a couple of weeks with the girls? How much trouble could we get into?”
Asher rose from the chair and placed his hands on his desk.
CJ grunted. “You think having the argument here would get you out of your punishment? Because that’s what’s coming after what you just said.”
I crossed my arms over my chest and doubled down. “I didn’t stutter. It’s ludicrous you won’t listen to my idea.”
“Zayla…” Asher paused. I knew I might have pushed too much. He took a couple of deep breaths before he spoke again. “You can take my jet and roam the world. But when your idea starts with you and Kat have an idea to take a girls’ trip to research a cold serial killer case in Paris, it tells me two things…You and Kat have a lock on Sonali Bailey, or you plan to go hunt down an active killer.”
“It’s a girls' trip,” I countered. “Sophie and Patty plan to come as well.”
“And they are all packed waiting on you? Because Antonio hates when Kat leaves for more than eight hours. He would be in my office constantly huffing about her being gone two weeks.”
“Antonio would never block Kat from a time with her friends.”
Asher’s lip twitched, and I knew he was fighting a smile. “I know my brother and that’s bullshit. Because he knows his wife is the ringleader and we will all be pissed when shit hits the fan. Plus a girls' trip is a weekend in Vegas or a vacation to a private island.”
CJ sighed, “I’m just hurt you can’t tell us the truth. And the fact you said we are controlling stung. Zayla are you not happy anymore? Is this trip a way to escape us?” CJ asked.
Damn it. These two men had a way of turning every fight back on me. Unlike them, I always caved first and they knew it too. “You know I love you both more than anything. But you also have a bro code?”
“When I was in the Navy, but now I tell you everything. CJ and I don’t keep secrets,” Asher said.
I couldn’t help but wince. They also didn’t have the same relationship with Kat as I did. In the past six months, we had become close. I knew one day she might be my sister-in-law, but I felt like we were already sisters.
I sighed. “But I don’t want to get Kat in trouble. The only way to tell you everything will do that. Is there any way to get out of this without betraying her?”
Asher sat back in his chair and locked his eyes with mine. I’d seen this look before, and normally a lot of orgasms followed. “Pull that sexy dress over your head and come lay across my desk with your ass pointed at me.”
I glanced over my shoulder at the door. “But we are at your place of work. Can’t we go home and discuss this?”
“I believe your Dom gave you an order,” CJ said.
He was right. Besides, I knew Kat and Antonio had sex at the office a lot, but I didn’t think CJ and Asher would want to. Hell, I should know better than to think that.
I took a deep breath, pulled the dress over my head, and walked behind Asher’s desk. The wood felt cold against my skin when I rested my chest against it. On the corner of the desk was a picture of the three of us at the beach.
“CJ, go get lube from Antonio's office.”
“Master, I’m sure we can talk this through.”
Asher looped his fingers in my panties and guided them down my legs.
“We can talk. You and CJ are my everything. The day you were both taken haunts me at night. I know Kat is amazing, but the thought of you heading into danger scares the fuck out of me.” He paused for a second and placed a kiss on my ass. Then he continued. “Let the team as a whole work on this. You can sit in on the meetings next to CJ while he pulls whatever is needed, but please bring me in.”
His finger glided across my skin, making it hard to think.
“Kat might have hypothetically broken into Vincenzo's office and found information on what he knew.”
“Fuck,” Asher groaned. “She puts herself in danger way too much, but I understand this is hypothetical. Tell me did she have backup.”
“Do I have to retell my conversation with her in in this position?”
“Yes.”
