"Yes," I whispered. Even if my heart told me to run, my brain wanted to feel his soft lips against mine.

His hand cradled my cheek as his lips lowered. With each passing day the desire I felt only intensified, and the moment his lips brushed against mine, I couldn't imagine anywhere else I wanted to be.

He'd just bought a fricking tree for me, and I would do anything to see him this happy.

Chapter15

Zack

Hannah looked at home on the yacht. The past few weeks had flown by, and Zane wasn’t any closer to taking Watson down. Sophie had hit a snag with the information to get Hannah’s mom out of jail. So, I asked Alex Ross if I could use the Ross family’s boat and take Hannah out on the water. She’d changed the subject when I asked her about going to the courthouse with me. Besides the staff, we were alone on the mega yacht.

The water lapped against the side of the yacht even after we’d stopped moving. That was something I loved. Feeling the sway of the boat made me feel at home. Every summer, dad would take our family on a two-week vacation to escape the media and his hectic life. I wasn’t sure Hannah would enjoy this outing. She’d spent a lot of time in the wetlands studying different plants. When she said she planned to head to the land this morning, I asked if she wanted to spend some time with me out on the water, and she immediately agreed.

The sun had kissed her skin after being out all day. Now that night had fallen, the peacefulness was what we both needed.

Once the sun had set, I asked the helmsman to turn off as many lights as possible. He’d leave a few on, because he wanted other boats in the area to know we were there. But the night sky was never clearer than out on the water.

Hannah stood at the taffrail around the stern, her dress flowing in the breeze. To call her mouthwatering was an understatement. She’d changed out of her bathing suit from earlier. I had kept my hands to myself at all during the day, and my cock was rock hard.

I admired her ass in the dress for long enough to be considered creepy. I slowly made my way to her. As I stopped beside Hannah, I slid a hand over her lower back and then grasped her hip.

“It’s so beautiful out here,” she said quietly as she looked out on the vastness of the water. “This is my first time on a yacht.”

“I never considered buying one, but if you enjoy—”

Hannah elbowed my side. “Just because I said I like it out here doesn’t mean I want you to spend millions of dollars on a boat. We can rent one from time to time, but you need to stop buying me things every time I say I like something.”

I slid my hand up her back, fit it around the back of her neck, and moved her toward me. My lips brushed against hers softly, and she moaned. “You deserve the world.”

She rested a hand against my chest between us as I began to kiss her. My lips moved against hers in small, wet kisses. I traced the curve of her mouth with my tongue, which got her to open for me. Each time I was with her, it was like the first time all over again.

I deepened the kiss, pushing my tongue against hers. She tasted like strawberries, and I knew right away that this was going to be a core memory of mine. Anytime I smelled or tasted strawberry in the future, I’d think of Hannah.

Her body melted into mine as she made these little moaning sounds that shot right to my cock. I was already hard as granite for her, but there were so many things I wanted to do first.

“Are you wet for me?” I asked against her lips.

Her mouth parted as her chest rose and fell rapidly. Quickly, she nodded, bringing a grin to my face.

“Good,” I told her. “But we’re not ready for that yet.”

After pulling away from her, I took her hand to lead her from the taffrail and over to the center of the deck, where we’d have plenty of room to do the things I wanted to do.

She came willingly as she held tightly to my hand until we stopped, and she turned to me. Her eyes were wide, and her lips were slightly swollen from the kiss we’d just shared.

“Today is the first time since the protest, I feel like I’ve had you to myself. Blackwood Security seems to have a revolving door, and we were barely able to spend time together.”

Hannah nodded. “I think we’ve both danced around what’s next. My funds are getting low, and I need to start looking for another job and figure out what to do with my apartment.”

I pulled her against my chest. “If my memory serves me right, I tried to have a few conversations about our future, but you’ve dodged them.”

“You are right, I have. I like you a lot and could see myself spending the rest of my life with you, but I don’t want to start our marriage off as a way just to keep me safe. You claim I’ll have more protection if we were married, but in the last two weeks, your Secret Service agents doubled, and they escort me when you can’t come along.” Hannah twisted the diamond engagement ring off her finger. “I want you to have this back…when you think the time is right for us to be engaged because you want to be with me and not because you want me protected, you propose again. I have one other favor to ask. When you do, can we not make the announcement to the world again?”

“I hate this.” I took the ring from her outstretched hand. “The media will hound you the second they see this ring off your finger. Furthermore, I can’t imagine spending my life with anyone other than you. But it appears I need to prove my love to you, and I will…because I’m not going to let you go. Tonight really isn’t how I planned things to go.”

Hannah patted my chest. “To be honest, I thought you were going to try to have the Captain of the ship marry us tomorrow.”

“Well fuck, I hadn’t thought of that. My plan was for us to head to the courthouse.”
