I would end up in jail, and my father would continue to live his perfect life.

“Don’t worry about that,” Georgia said. “Travis and I have a special kit Kat Ross made us. It’s in the trunk of the SUV. She gave them out for Christmas this year. I swear that woman gives the best gifts. Please don’t tell Sophie that since I love what she gives us. But Kat gave everyone a gift certificate to her acid dealer two years ago. Before I met her, I didn’t even know people had black market dealers on speed dial.”

Zack shifted and released my legs for a moment, only to move me into a princess hold. “Please give me a little more time. I know it’s a lot for me to ask you to trust me.”

Damn it. His gray eyes got me every time. They are probably why so many people voted for him; the man hypnotized them when he gave his speeches.

“I should tell you no and ask you to take me to D.C. But I don’t want to head back to my old life. How about a compromise?”

His lip ticked up to the side. “As long as I can negotiate, as well.”

“Nobody comes over tonight. We warn everyone about what my father did. You call in extra security to help protect them.”

“I will compromise with nobody coming over tonight. But we will have them over tomorrow for lunch.”

“Zack.”

“You make my cock so hard when you whisper my name that way.”

Georgia made a gagging noise. “Your sister is right here.”

“I’m serious. I don’t want anyone else to get hurt.”

“Tomorrow, we will come up with a game plan. It will be easier with my family and friends at the house.”

Georgia put a hand on my arm. “He has a good point. Travis and I will clean up the mess in the bathroom. You go shower and get some rest. Don’t worry about letting the guests know. I’ll reach out to each person and relay the information. And Hannah, you might not have married my brother today, but you will soon. Family helps each other, and sometimes that means we bury bodies for each other. It's best if you just accept you're a Tucker now. Life might not always be easy, and for a long time, I never understood why my mother married their father. But I learned rather quickly the men in this family are extremely protective of the people they love, and I couldn’t be prouder of my brothers. Even if they do piss me off sometimes.”

Her words touched deep in my soul. I could only nod, because I worried that I would break down if I opened my mouth.

“I’ll see you tomorrow, and Sis...I love you,” Zack said before he walked down the hall to the exit with me in tow.

I wrapped my arms around Zack’s neck and held on as he walked out the church doors. For a moment, everything felt like it would be okay.

Chapter10

Zack

Ipulled into the garage, turned off the car, and the sound of the engine faded. Hannah had cried the entire drive, and each sniffle broke my heart. I planned to make her father pay for putting her through so much.

“Ready to head inside?” I asked, reaching over to unbuckle her seatbelt.

Hannah nodded, and I opened the door, stepping out into the hot night air. I walked around to her side of the SUV and opened the door, reaching in to help her out.

I scooped her up in my arms as soon as she was on her feet, her weight feeling light against my chest. She grumbled, but didn’t fight against my hold as she did earlier. Instead, she wrapped her arms around my neck and laid her head against my shoulder.

When I reached the front door, it swung open. Texan stood on in the doorway with his arms folded across his chest with a scowl I’d seen many times. He would lecture me later, but understood that Hannah needed this more than the hour-long lecture about my safety. I’m sure he was briefed about the church incident by Travis. Hell, he probably had more information than me.

“We’re heading upstairs for the night,” I said as I headed for the staircase.

“Your brother called in reinforcements. He wanted to come by tonight, but your sister stopped him. Tomorrow morning, his entire team will come over. I’ll push it as late as possible.”

“Thank you, Texan.”

Texan cleared his throat. “Hannah, I’m glad you are okay, and this didn’t run you off. I promise we will take care of your father.”

“I don’t want anyone else to get hurt.”

“The world is an ugly place. I’m sorry you’ve had to see this side of things. I can’t stand here and say once we take your father down, you’ll never see the shitty side again, but if I’m protecting Zack, I’ll do everything I can to shield you from as much as possible. Now, why don’t you guys go shower, and I’ll make sure to deal with everyone in the morning? Georgia said she would come early and help me keep everyone at bay.”
