"When we touch down in Virginia, all I want is a car and some cash. I'm not going to be the reason any of you are harmed."

Zane crossed his arms over his broad chest. "A small explosion is not going to scare any of us away. If anything, it made the trip to Vegas even more entertaining. Kat shooting Zack with a tranquilizer is so going on this year's Christmas card. Now, if my lovely wife could somehow retrieve a picture of him face down on the hangar floor, that would be even better."

"Oh my God! Does anyone not understand how close we came to dying?" I asked.

Antonio winked at me. "We were about twenty feet away. As for your father, there’s a list a mile long of crimes he’s suspected in. Even if you walk away, we won't stop until we put him behind bars. Zack very seldom asks for assistance."

Kat huffed. "He's still working off the Juan Sanchez takedown."

"Uncle Sanchez was a problem our family started," Sophie grumbled. "Everything Zack had us help with also assisted us in our mission. What I'm trying to figure out is how they planted the bomb so fast. I can't pinpoint the moment the person entered the parking garage."

Sophie turned back to her laptop and typed away.

None of Zack's friends seemed to accept the fact I needed to run. Contacting Marshal Gibson wasn't an option since he was in the hospital, but I was sure I’d figure something out.

Zack shifted in the seat next to me and groaned. His light gray eyes fluttered open for a split second. I twined my fingers with his and squeezed his hand.

Kat glanced at her phone. "If my calculations are correct, he should wake up in the next half hour."

"Or now," Zack grumbled with his eyes still closed.

"Good to have you back, brother," Zane said. "I know you're getting old, but it's helpful if you don't take a nap in the middle of a mission."

"Fuck you," Zack muttered.

"This isn't good," Sophie said with a sigh.

Zack ran his hand over his face. "Everyone to the back of the plane, but Hannah."

"I have intel," Sophie countered.

"Now."

The group stood and moved to the last row of the gulf streamer. I was alone with Zack.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

"You were the one who was knocked out. And earlier, you were almost killed by a bomb."

"Kat is going to pay for that fucking dart someday when she least expects the payback to happen, or I'll give her kids toys that will annoy her for hours. But right now, all I care about is you and how you're doing."

He ran his fingers along my jaw, and the simple touch caused my brain to turn to mush. When I didn't answer, he tugged a tendril of my blonde hair. "Talk to me."

I glanced behind us, and Kat's head quickly swiveled toward her sister. "Your friends don't like the word no."

Zack chuckled. "True. I promise to make this all better, but you’re going to have to trust me."

"Okay." I leaned my head back, and Zack motioned for everyone to join us.

Sophie took the spot where Kat had sat earlier and spun her computer screen around. "I don't think the car bomb was linked to Hannah. Neal sent me the information he collected from the scene. At first, I thought he had transmitted the wrong file. Then I decided to do a quick scan of the Vegas airport. Look."

"Fuck," Zack said. "Are we sure it's him? He should be locked in a solitary cell at the bottom of the Black Hole."

"Black Hole?" I asked. "And who is he?"

"Ash is the only name he goes by, because he leaves a wake of it in his destruction. We aren't on the best terms," Zack said.

I noticed how he completely ignored the fact I asked about the place, and not one person offered an answer.
