"You can't speak to me like that. And anyway, there are no gators in Vegas."

"Oh really? I'm sure I can find a zoo. But you interrupted me before I could explain I was schooled on how to decompose a body with acid too. To be honest with you, that process sounds like a lot of work, so I would probably stick to killing you with a drop of liquid made from Aconitum napellus. It's a very pretty flower which has an untraceable poison. Now hand over our license."

The woman stared at me. "Did you hear her? I'm going to report you to the police."

Later I would have a long talk with Hannah about taking advice from Kat. I wanted Hannah to be friends with all the wives, but I didn't want her to end up being the main topic of the message chain like Kat did each week. The group chat was originally created for a place CJ could drop the video feed he stole from Kat’s home security system. Normally it consisted of Kat trying to cover up a dead body. Now it was a mixture of everyone dropping information in the chat.

"She asked for our license a couple of times." I tapped my watch. "If you're holding us up to alert the paparazzi, it won't work."

She glared at us a moment before she yanked a piece of paper from the stack on her desk. I slipped a hundred and ten dollars through the hole and grabbed the most important document for my future. We turned and headed for the back door of the courthouse.

Texan had worked with security to sneak us out through the employee entrance. Antonio and Sam were outside in case the media showed, and they would notify us. Texan and Art flanked our sides as we made our way down the hall. Hannah's fingernails cut into my hand the closer we strode toward the exit.

A couple feet away from the exit, Antonio pushed the door open for us to step through.

"Neal said chatter about you at the courthouse hit Celebrity Today a minute ago."

The six of us jogged across the street to the parking garage. The SUV was only twenty feet away when Art clicked the key fob, and the SUV lights blinked once before a blast of hot air hit my face throwing me backward. Hannah's scream was drowned out by the loud bang and car horns. Pieces of metal rained down around us. Antonio was on his feet with his gun leveled toward the exit in seconds. Sam had his cell pressed to his ear.

I groaned and rolled to my side to find Hannah on the hard cement next to me. Her lips were moving, but I couldn't hear a word over the blaring car sirens.

Texan held out a hand for me, and Art did the same for Hannah. They pushed us behind them while they pointed their guns. A black SUV screeched into the garage, followed by a second one. The windshields were tinted, making it impossible to see either of the drivers.

Antonio waved his arm and jogged toward the SUV. The door swung open, and I sighed when I spotted the flash of red hair. I grabbed Hannah's hand and pulled her toward the waiting vehicle. Kat threw her arms around Hannah and hugged her before she jumped in the passenger side. Texan took the driver’s seat while Antonio, Hannah, and I slid into the back row.

Art was next to the demolished SUV with Sam.

"We can't leave them," Hannah yelled.

I squeezed her hand. "They are looking for intel. We need to head to the chapel."

"Not happening," Texan growled as he threw the SUV in reverse.

"I agree with Texan. Time for plan B," Kat smiled.

Antonio ran a hand over his face. "We don't have a plan B."

"I do," Kat countered.

"Explain," I snapped.

She swiveled in her seat and motioned to Hannah. "Originally, I thought Hannah wanted to escape you as well. I like her, and Zane would disown me if I killed his brother. So, Sophie and I worked on a backup option while Hannah got her hair done."

"You guys didn't say a word to me," Hannah grumbled.

My ears hadn't stopped ringing, but it didn't seem like the hospital was part of her secret operation.

Antonio grunted. "I would wager my dear wife thought Hannah would run. Possibly right before the wedding. I'm guessing you were going to kidnap her and head to one of the safe houses until you solved her problem."

The SUV tilted to the left as Texan cut across two lanes and turned.

Kat's nose scrunched. "I'm not a fan of the word kidnapping especially when I'm helping someone."

"What is this great plan?" I asked.

"Car swap in about five minutes, boss."

My head pounded, but I tried to recall a moment Kat had said the entire plan to Texan, including where to go—that fucker. "You knew the plan."
