“Stop, Wes. You have no clue what you are talking about.”

I spun on my heels and looked down at the woman I thought would be my wife. Under the layers of makeup, I saw a hint of the woman I fell in love with. When I came to Ft. Lauderdale, I never imaged I would run into her here—furthermore, working as a nurse. She wasn’t a helping type of person. “I know the owner of this hospital and he hired the company I work for to help clear out the trash. It seemed we needed to look at more employees than the doctors. Now excuse me as I need to help her.”

“You can’t walk in here and think you know everything. You haven’t changed a bit. Always think you’re better than everyone, and everyone needs you to swoop in and save the day. That woman is getting what she deserved. I know for a fact she lied about her baby’s father to get money out of him.”

It took everything in me not to roll my eyes. Rachelle alone was considered a one percenter. “Well, then we will see.” I pushed the door open, and she followed behind me. My jaw ticked as I saw Rachelle in cuffs and tears in her eyes. Her head swung to me, and her cheeks turned pink. “Wes, can you get a hold of Alex Ross? He can contact my father.”

The security guard crossed his arms and glared at me. “You’re not allowed back here.”

“I already tried to tell him,” Elise whined.

I pinched my brow, trying to hold my anger back. How could I not have seen this side of her? “First of all. You do realize you are detaining the owner of this hospital’s daughter, right?”

The guy’s face blanched for a second before he shook his head. “No. This place is owned by a cooperation.”

“You’re wrong. Dr. Triston Colbert bought the hospital out a few weeks back. I know for a fact he’s in his office because I have a meeting scheduled with him.”

Elise stepped closer to me, causing the fake boobs she had added after we split to rub against my side. “Wes, you owe me for what you did years ago. I think I should sit in on that meeting so I can tell him all about what his daughter did here during her residency. I think he would really like to hear how she fucked her way through the doctors to get the good cases. Didn’t spend time with her patients, which caused a mother and her unborn child to die.”

I took a step back and stared down at Elise. “I would advise you to leave this room immediately.”

The security guard took a step toward me. “This is my area. I call the shots here.”

Not wanting to deal with the man any longer, I pulled out my phone and called Triston. His voice boomed through the phone as I placed him on speaker. “Hey Wes, I’m going to have to call you back. There’s been an issue, and I can’t get a hold of Rachelle.”

“I’m with your daughter, sir. It seems the security guards are under the impression they can detain people and not listen.”

“They detained my daughter?” He repeated the statement as if he couldn’t believe someone would be dumb enough to hold his daughter.

Elise looked at me with wide eyes before she opened her mouth. “Sir, your daugh— “

“Wes, I’m on my way down.” The phone went dead. I sent Brock a quick text so he could clear any videos from the Internet, because I was certain someone would still post.

The movement to the side caught my attention as Elise took another step toward the doors. “Nope, you stay here. You wanted to talk to the new owner. It seems you are getting your shot.”

“I’m sure he has other things to do.”

I grabbed the keys out of the security guard’s hands and unlocked the cuffs from Rachelle’s wrists. I hated to see the marks from how tight he had latched them around her wrists.

Rachelle stood. Her long brown hair was in a high ponytail. I wanted to reach up and wipe the black streaks of makeup off her face.

Rachelle cleared her throat. “Oh, you can leave, Elise, but out the front door. Human Resources will be in touch with your exit paperwork along with any belongs.”

“You can’t fire me.”

“Oh, but I can because I’m acting COO of this hospital.” Rachelle turned to the security guards. “If you would have listened to me and not the fake tits, you might have saved your jobs.”

The door to the room burst open, and Triston stepped in, his face red. “I want answers.”

Rachelle took a deep breath. “It’s taken care of, Father. I informed Elise I’m acting COO. We will no longer need her assistance along with these two.”

“You heard her, get the fuck out.”

“Sir, I don’t think you—” Elise tried again.

“Out!” Triston yelled. Finally Elise turned and left. Another security guard stepped in and walked the two men out.

“Well, that was unexpected,” I said.
