“We need to go. That fucker lied. I swear I’m going to rip his balls off when we find him. He’ll sing a different tone then.” Mia jogged down the hall, and I was a step behind her when we stepped into the main area. The music was off, and a crowd was near the stage. “Go check that out,” I told Paxton.

Mia and I headed for the bar. “Hey, you seen Milton?”

He nodded, “I think he and Elise were having a threesome with the new chick you were looking at earlier.”

My stomach turned. “Where did they go?”

“Not sure.”

Mia rested her hand on my forearm. “You don’t know it was Rachelle for sure. She came with another woman.”

I closed my eyes, and when I reopened them, I spotted the other woman. “Her friend is over there with Kaeden.”

My eyes went to the door in the back of the club. “I’m going to go check out back.”

Mia nodded, “I’m going to go see if I can view any camera footage. I spotted some on the outside of the building.”

The muggy Florida heat hit me as I pushed open the door and stepped into the back parking lot. Hushed voices yelled back and forth. I used the dark shadows from the building to hide as I tried to get closer.

This wasn’t part of the plan.

She needs to be taught a lesson.

I know, but the boss said he wants Roxy. We have to go get her as well. Just give the dumb bitch another shot.

Someone is going to notice she is gone.

Well, you were the one who put the shot her in her neck. All I wanted was the gag around her mouth. Vic would have watched the room, and she would be inside. Nobody would have asked questions.

We can get Roxy next time.

Did you not hear the boss? The shipment goes out tomorrow. No time and someone is paying a high price for Roxy. Now let’s go.

Milton swung the doors of a black van open. I used the distraction as my moment to attack. I slipped up behind my old partner, and before he realized it, I pressed my gun to his side. “Get away from her, Elise. One more move, and I’ll put a bullet in him.”

“You don’t have the guts.” She ground back.

“She has a point. You didn’t shoot me the last time you had a chance.”

Elise moved the needle closer to Rachelle’s neck. I pressed the gun to Milton’s leg and fired the trigger. The gunshot echoed off the walls, and he dropped to the ground. “Out of the van Elise. Don’t think I won’t shoot you as well.”

She glanced at Milton on the ground screaming in pain. Her movement was quick as she reached to the side and pulled out a gun. “Let us go, or I’ll kill her.”

I trained my gun on Elise. “Drop it.”

“Seems it’s two against one.” I glanced to the side, and Milton lay on the ground with his gun.

“Walk away.” His voice shook with each word.

The back doors to the building flew open, and Mia slunk around the side while the people in the club poured out. “Get back inside.”

With the added distraction, Mia snuck around the side and pushed the side door to the van open.

Elise lunged toward Rachelle and shoved the needle in her neck and pushed the plunger. Two shots rang out, but I charged the van. Mia yanked Elise out, and I pulled Rachelle into my arms.

Paxton climbed in next to me. “I need to look at you.” My vision faded for a second. “Save her.”

“I’m more worried about you.” That’s when I looked down and noticed the blood on my arm.
