“With her phone number and any details I can use to get closer to her.”
“Hell no! She’ll sneak into my apartment at night and slit my throat. I won’t even see it coming because she knows how to disable top-of-the-line security systems.”
“You’re being a little overdramatic.”
“Nope.” I shook my head, realizing this guy couldn’t grasp Mia’s capabilities.
The guard in the hall looked over the top of his head to Paxton for confirmation.
“This isn’t going to be good,” I sighed.
Mia stood up on her tiny toes, almost looking like she planned to kiss the man. He leaned forward, and she wrapped her hands around his neck.
“What the—”
She pressed a pressure point near the back of his neck, and the man cried out. Mia leaned in closer and whispered in his ear. He violently shook his head, and she let go.
Paxton leaned closer to me. “Shit, that turned me on even more. I’ll gladly let her take the fight first.”
I shook my head and stepped forward. “Get what we needed?”
“Asshole said they haven’t been back here yet. Why do people always want to do things the hard way?”
“Lady, you could have killed me.” The man grunted as he moved a few steps back.
“If I wanted you dead, you wouldn’t see it coming. Next time I ask for information, it would be easier if you told me.”
“Bitch, there won’t be the next time. I’m taking you out of here right now. We have rules about assault.” He grabbed Mia’s wrist. I took a step back and pushed Paxton out of the way. The man’s legs went out from under him, and he was flat on the ground. Mia had her heel right on his jugular.
“First of all, it’s rude to call a woman a bitch. Secondly, I’m here working because security at this place isn’t doing its job. Now, are we going to have an issue?”
His face turned a light shade of red. “I don’t want to deal with a dead body,” I grumbled. “Can we let him go?”
Mia raised her foot slightly. “Next time you try something, you won’t like the end.”
The security guard jumped up from the ground. His hand rubbed his neck. “I’m not paid enough for this.” He stormed by.
A small woman with a pixie cut walked out of one of the private rooms, followed by Badger. We spoke for five minutes. They wouldn’t let me step foot in the club without meeting with him.
“Mia, Wes,” he greeted, then turned his eyes on Mia. “Sure you don’t want to take me up on the offer to talk about your anger?”
“Like I said a million times in our three-hour session. No anger issues here. That guy deserved everything he got, Doc. Now excuse me, we have someone to go find.”
The tiny woman tilted her head. “Can we be friends? You seem to kick ass. I’ve taken self-defense, but it’s been with men. They worry about hurting me, but you….”
“Oh, I would have no issues knocking your little ass to the ground. There is a group of us that get together and train.” She glanced over her shoulder to Paxton. “Make sure she gets my number. I know you have it in the system somewhere. You guys didn’t happen to see Elise or Milton around?”
“I dislike her.” The woman grunted. “She was walking toward the bar when we went into the room.”
Paxton walked by and wrapped the small woman in a hug. “Did he take care of you?”
“Yes, Master Renolds. I’m okay.”
The doctor sighed. “I think you should stay here tonight.”
Mia stood back and watched the exchange. For a second, I thought I saw jealousy twist across her lips, but she covered up her expression quickly. “You can stay in Kaeden’s place. He can stay with me. Don’t protest. I don’t want to deal with your angry SEAL husband when he gets back because we didn’t take care of you.”
“Fine, but you guys are really bossy.”
