“I find that very hard to believe. Look at you. If I didn’t know you worked for Brock, there would be no doubt in my mind you could get a modeling job or have one of those Only Fans accounts and be one of the time influencers.”

No way was I going to mention that during one of my missions they used me as a model to get closer to a target. The information would only drive home her point. What I couldn’t understand was how she didn’t see how breathtaking she was. Today her hair was up in a messy bun, and eyeliner smudged in the corner of her eyes. Those things only made me want her more.

I was out of my chair and behind her desk. Rachelle’s eyes widened as I grabbed her arm and tugged her out of the chair. My lips crashed against hers, and the tension I felt for the last week and a half died. I’d told myself on the drive to the hospital I wouldn’t push her, but those damn ruby lips were too distracting.

The reasons to not pursue a relationship no longer mattered. She tensed in my arms for a second before our tongues tangled together. None of the women I slept with I could ever see a future with, until Rachelle.

Her fingers clung to my dress shirt as I deepened the kiss. Rachelle fit perfectly in my arms. There was no way I would let her get away. I had a feeling no matter what happened, I couldn’t walk away as I did with Elise. Rachelle could betray me, and I would still forgive her. Was that love? I shook my head, trying to get the thought out of my brain.

Rachelle pressed her palms against my chest and pulled away. “Wes...”

“Don’t.” I still kept my arms loosely wrapped around her. “I’m a man and said stupid things. Created rules that made sense at one time, now—we can figure this out.”

“I have one question before this goes anywhere,” her eyes connected with mine. She chewed on her bottom lip for a second. A tick I learned she had when she was nervous. “Did you go to the club and scene with other women in the last week?”

Fuck. No matter how I word this, she will take it the wrong way. I also wouldn’t lie to her. “Yes, but—"

One brow cocked over her eyes. “You can’t say but…that word always leads to a dumb excuse. I liked you, Wes. I really liked you. I wasn’t even out of your life for a damn month, and you went and found someone else. When I like someone, I fall fast and then have to pick up the pieces of my heart when it doesn’t work. You can just go to the club and fuck another woman.”

“It wasn’t like that.”

Rachelle pulled back and paced along the side of her desk. Her eyes filled with tears. “We look at the world in a different light. Maybe if I was in the club life and understood it more but sharing or watching you with another woman would never be something I was into.”

“I didn’t sleep with anyone.”

“But you did a scene. What is the difference?”

There was a huge difference since it was a scene Brock asked me to perform for the club. He wanted me to do a demo. If she couldn’t handle me doing the teaching, this wouldn’t work. “There is a difference, but you seemed to have already made up your mind. You know there is more to every situation.”

She stopped pacing and rolled her eyes. “That’s just a guy’s way of trying to get out of the facts of what he did. This was why I tried to leave on the first night. I knew I would fall for you, but you would always be that guy.”

My jaw clenched for a second. “What guy?”

“The one who will never settle because he would rather have a different flavor every night. You didn’t even wait two weeks before you went back to a sex club and did a scene.”

“I should have listened to Brock and had someone else come down here.” I ran a hand through my hair, and it didn’t help with my frustration at all. “When you get the information, please send it to Brock. For the record, Brock asked me to do a teaching scene, but it seems you already made your mind up about me.”

Her mouth opened to reply, but it was too late. I turned and walked out the door. When she said my name, I didn’t turn around because I wasn’t going to be with someone who thought I couldn’t change or even try.

CHAPTER11

Rachelle

“Is that Doctor Kaeden Renolds?”Samantha whispered as she pointed across the dungeon. “Maybe that’s why I always listen to his commands at work. He’s a Dom, and he’s secretly been using a Dom voice on me.”

Dr. Kaeden was Chief of Surgery at Alexander General Hospital. He was also one of the nicest doctors in the place. The week prior, we discussed what the surgical team needed. When the meeting ended and the other doctors on his team left, he asked to speak to me alone. That was when he talked about how he felt I should go back into the residency program. Now I had to wonder if Samantha was on to something. The way the damn man talked to me almost had me caving to what he thought would be best.

As for a Dom, only one kept coming to my mind. I messed that up, and I wasn’t sure if I could fix it. After he left, I went straight to records for the information. The new Records Supervisor informed me Calvin told her to start shredding all paper forms. I asked why she would listen to him and not the rules of the hospital.

Her cheeks turned bright red, and she dipped her head. When I asked if they slept together, she looked everywhere but at me. Then went on to deny any physical relationship with him. I pushed her to the reason for destroying the documents, and she couldn’t give me a reason. Only Calvin felt like they were taking up too much room. He had turned the storage area into an office for Elise. Since we fired her, the office was left empty.

Wes didn’t answer my call when I tried to tell him what I found out. I even attempted to block my number, but it went straight to voice mail. Even Brock didn’t seem overly happy to receive my call.

“How the hell did we end up coming to a place with people we work with?” I wasn’t sure how I felt about Kaeden seeing me in a corset and a skirt that barely covered my ass. On Monday, I would have to sit through a meeting with the man.

“We can leave if you want,” Samantha said. I knew she would do it for me, but I could also tell she wanted to be here.

I went to respond when the dungeon doors opened, and in walked the man I’d thought about for the past two weeks. Behind him was Paxton, Kaeden’s brother. I’d met him a couple of times, but he owned a plastic surgery business. On his arm was Mia. My eyes went back to Wes with his arm wrapped around a woman I’d never seen before. “This day just keeps getting worse.”
