There was no doubt in Ginger’s mind that she would fit in perfectly.

Richy turned to him and nodded toward the door.

He followed him outside while the other guys talked with Rose.

“You know how the conversation will go tomorrow,” Richy said.

“Not sure. My handler said he talked to the Commander, and they agreed everything would go through him. Which I assume means I’m no longer on the SEAL team.” He sighed.

“Life as a CIA officer isn’t easy, especially when you have a family.”

He didn’t need Richy to tell him that.

He had Tyler to think about and Rose. They were his priorities, and he had to sit down with her and figure out their next move. The house they were in was temporary, but he had no obligations to the CIA and the military. They could do whatever Rose wanted.

“I need to talk to Rose,” Ginger said softly.

“Understandable. I’m always looking for men on my team. You wouldn’t have to move to DC but you would need to still do missions.” Richy and Terri rescued women who were human trafficked. The teams Richy had would be part of the rescue operations.

Richy offering him a job shocked him.

He knew he had to stop putting himself down and accept he was good at what he did. “I’ll think about it.”

“It’s always open,” Richy said as the rest of his friends strode out of the house. Together, they headed toward their vehicles.

Rose wrapped her arms around Ginger’s waist and placed a kiss on the side of his neck. “I really liked your friends.”

He did too. “Want me to help you set up your bug room?”

“Or we could….” Her laughter filled the air as he slapped her ass. Except the little man was still up, so they would have to wait. They also had to sit down and discuss the future. He saw the hurt in her eyes when the meeting with his handler was brought up and he hadn’t told her.

ROSE

Rose set the last cage on the shelf and took a step back. All her little creatures were with her again.

A strong arm wrapped around her stomach. She’d heard Ginger step into the room. Her body hummed every time he pressed his fingers against her skin.

“It’s late. Are you ready for bed?” he asked as he placed a kiss on the side of her neck. “I’m hungry, and you’re the only person who can help with my craving.”

Her cheeks heated. The man had a magical tongue and could turn her body to mush instantly.

“Yes,” she murmured.

He spun her in his arms. The smell of his mint soap wafted off him as he combed fingers through his damp hair.

Ginger had started running a few miles each night. She thought it was too soon, but he promised the doctor had signed off on the exercise. Rose wanted to point out that exercise was one thing, and running three miles was another, but it made him happy, which was all she wanted.

Guilt still hung over her head about the accident. The serial killer had him as his target because of her. Which also put her son in the man’s line of sight too. Ginger tried to tell her none of it was her fault, but she couldn’t stop thinking everything was.

He nipped the bottom of her ear. “Am I going to have to spank your ass?”

The damn man could read her the second she let her mind go to a bad place.

She cupped his face, his two-day stubble pricking her fingers. A shiver slid down her spine at the thought of what the scratch felt like between her legs.

If he ever left her, she wasn’t sure her heart would survive. She hadn’t realized what love was until him. She wanted to say the three words but didn’t know if he felt the same way.
