He pinched her nipple behind her lace bra. “Oh. I thought these things when we were younger. The only difference was I had to concentrate on lasting more than twenty seconds. He set the cloth to the side and pried her legs apart. “There is nothing to be ashamed of.” Her eyes closed as he ran the cloth over her. When he finished, he dumped it in the laundry basket.

Terri raised a brow when he opened the drawer next to the bed. Her breath hitched as he pulled out a small blue box.

“Terri.”

“Oh my god.” Her fingers went to her mouth. “I’m naked.”

He couldn’t help but roll his eyes. “We both are...Terri.”

“Yes.”

“Damn, woman, you don’t even know what I was going to say.”

Her cheeks turned bright red. “I know the box.”

She’d been in his house for a week while he was gone. He didn’t even think she would look around. “Did you look inside?”

“Not lately, but I did years ago.”

He stared at her. Axel had no clue she knew about the ring. “Terri, I’ve had this since our junior year of high school. There were many times I planned to ask you, but at the time, it never felt right. I’m not sure if we would’ve made it years ago. My head was in a bad place. The one thing I’ve known for years was you were the only one to ever hold my heart.” He flipped open the box. “Terri, will you marry me?”

“I already said yes.” She leaned forward and wrapped her arms around his neck.

Axel pulled back and took the ring from the small blue box. Her hand shook as she held it out. The gold princess cut diamond slid onto her finger. “We can always change it if you don’t like it.”

She smiled down with a tear in her eye. “I love it, and I love you.”

Axel climbed up on the bed and pulled her into his arms. In a few months, they would start their future. He was nervous about leaving the military but knew his decision to be with Terri was the right one. She was the one person who completed him.
