“But why would she take out the Senator?” Axel asked.

Ginger sighed. “I hadn’t even thought about that. It wasn’t until an hour ago that I caught a glimpse of the woman. She dyed her hair, lost weight, and changed her eye color. I know for a fact it’s her. I wanted to give you the information before I told the commander it’s best for me to go back to Langley.”

Casanova stood in front of the exit. “Not happening, man. It’s common for other people in the military to assist a special forces team. They sometimes assist until the end of the mission.”

“This is different.”

Cy stood next to Casanova. “You’re one of us. When the mission is over, go back to BUD/S or whatever makes you feel better. But you’re not leaving until Carter is taken down. You studied him more. Plus, you haven’t told me whether Angel’s sister is alive.”

Ginger winced. “Honestly, I don’t know. She went dark after we hid her, and I haven’t heard from her since.”

Axel cleared his throat. No matter how much he wanted to sit with the guys and talk, he had to get back to the cabin. With the new information, he should give Tex a ring. He knew Cy would want to, but he didn’t want his teammates getting into more trouble. Axel also needed to get more information from Terri about her assistant.

He opened his locker and pulled out his phone. His heartbeat increased when he saw fifteen missed calls from Tex. His finger hovered over the missed call.

The former SEAL answered on the first ring. “What took so fucking long?” he growled.

“A lot’s going on. You have new information?”

“Terri called. She’s been taken along with her assistant.”

Axel

“Let’shead to the situation room,” Casanova said as he shoved Axel through the door of the locker room.

Doc had taken the phone from his hands and talked to Tex. He walked into the conference room, where the team had planned hundreds of missions over the years. But this mission was different. Most of the time, they didn’t know the target. Yes, Axel wanted the save the person, but it was easier not to have an emotional attachment. With Terri being taken, he wanted to throw a chair across the room and ask Tex why he hadn’t found her yet.

“What did she tell you? Is she okay?” Axel asked as he paced back and forth.

The door flew open. Commander North walked in, pressed his hands to the table, and leaned forward. “What have you figured out, Tex?”

“Not much. She wasn’t the only one taken. So was her assistant. I tried to keep her on as long as possible, but the call was untraceable. She said it was a landline, but it didn’t seem that way. Almost like it was overseas, but she said the trip from the cabin to the location only took an hour.”

Cy typed on his keyboard, and a screen showed a map with a circle representing how far she could have gone. Most of it was in the ocean.

Ginger walked to the screen and stared at it for a while. “Fuck.”

All eyes were on him.

“I bet she’s on a boat.”

Commander North groaned. “You told them?”

He shrugged. “Yes.”

“I can’t authorize this mission. Yes, Ginger might have reports of the woman linked to Carter. My advice is to take the day off and go fishing. You never know. You might catch a big one.” With that, the commander left the room.

Tex chuckled through the phone. “Commander North wants you guys to go fishing. Let’s see if we can narrow it down. I’ve run Terri’s former assistant before, and nothing came up. She didn’t even have property.” He paused for a while. “What the hell?”

Everyone stared at the phone and waited for Tex.

“Holy shit. I just got a video sent to me from a woman named Lila. It’s of Terri and Renee being shoved into the back of a van. Isn’t Lila the person you guys spoke to in Brazil?”

“Yes. She must be the one keeping tabs on Terri. At least we can eliminate the other video as coming from a hostile person. What I want to know is where she is,” Axel said.

“I’m getting there,” Tex grumbled.

“Does Senator Wilson have property?” Axel asked.
