Page 23 of Bryson's Treasure

Bryson had wanted to wait a little longer before he took her in his arms, but when she’d looked up at him earlier in the barn, it was all he could do to hold back. “Yes, Gabriel called before I came out here. He also sent a copy of the papers signed by the judge.”

She smiled. “I’m officially divorced. Most people would be sad, but I’m excited for the next step in my life.”

“Have you thought about your next step much?” Bryson needed her in his arms. He reached out and pulled her close.

Lynn rested her head on his chest. The two of them fit perfectly together, and he loved having her in his arms.

Bryson had spent his early years sleeping with whoever he could pick up from the bar each night. About five years ago that got old, and he didn’t want meaningless sex. As much as he tried, it wasn’t easy to find someone who wanted to be with him. He was gone more than he was home. And now he had to think about Azadeh as well. Would Lynn want to be a part of Azadeh’s life?

“I mentioned to Midnight that I had no clue how I would leave him or you. That’s what Azadeh must have heard. We barely know each other. Is it strange that I don’t want to leave you when this is all over?”

“I don’t want you to leave.” He kissed the top of her nose. “You realize that if you do stay and we try to date, Azadeh will always be a part of my life. I won’t leave her.”

Lynn stepped out of his arms and glared at him. “What made you think I wouldn’t want to be part of Azadeh’s life? That little girl has wormed her way into my heart.”

Bryson didn’t like that she was so far away. The second she stepped out of his arms, he missed her and her touch. Stepping forward, he tugged her back into his arms. When she rubbed against him, his other body part got excited. He took a couple of deep breaths, trying to get his body back under control. She had just admitted to wanting to get to know him better. He didn’t want her to feel pressure, even though his dick had been hard since the day he’d pulled her out of the truck.

He leaned forward and gently pressed his lips to hers one more time before stepping back. “I think it’s almost time for dinner.”

She smiled up at him. “I know something else I would rather have.”

“You can’t say things like that. I’m trying to be a gentleman and get to know you better.” He pulled her in tighter. “Let me take you out on a date first.”

“I like that. Should we have Azadeh come with us?”

“She can come with us next time.”

Lynn stood on her tippy-toes and kissed his lips before turning toward the house. He watched as her ass swayed in her tight jeans. Knowing she was available, he couldn’t wait to get a taste of her.

Lynn addedan extra sway to her step as she walked out of the barn and couldn’t help but grin when she heard Bryson groan.

Forty-six days she waited for that kiss. Bryson was an honorable man. Even though he knew she was going through the divorce process, he wouldn’t touch her until it was final. She didn’t know how he was able to act so unaffected. It took everything in her not to sit and stare when he worked on the ranch.

Every second she spent with him and Azadeh made her feel like she had finally found what she was looking for. It wasn’t a place. It was the people. Even Noah and Matilda had made her feel like she was family. She only worried Bryson might change his mind. She had fallen for him so much in the past few weeks, she didn’t know what she would do if he decided he didn’t have time for a girlfriend.

She could only take it one day at a time. Bryson was worth losing her heart for. Azadeh and the sexy cowboy had already taken part of her heart. She hoped that once they found the man after her, Bryson would feel the same way.

Lynn walked into the kitchen and grabbed a Coke out of the fridge. Matilda was cutting up a tomato on the cutting board. She was making a salad to go along with the roast in the oven. The house smelled amazing. Keith had kept them on a strict diet for the last three years. Lynn had missed having home-cooked meals instead of microwaved ones.

“Did Bryson tell you the good news?” Matilda asked with a smile.

Lynn reached over and grabbed a tomato slice off the board and popped it into her mouth. “Yes. How did you find out?”

“Noah overheard the conversation.” Matilda grabbed an onion next and started to dice it. “So are you going to finally kiss, or are we going to keep dancing around your feelings?”

Lynn could feel her cheeks burning.

“Damn, that was quick. He must’ve gotten the call and rushed outside to see you.”

“Maybe.”

“He did.” Matlida pointed at her. “It’s written all over your face. Was it everything you wanted?”

“The kiss was amazing. Hell, I wanted more, but he wants to get to know me better.”

“If you want to do something tomorrow night, we can take Azadeh into Bozeman for a movie and watch her the following morning.”
