Taz walked over and wrapped her in a hug. “I didn’t mean to make you cry. You can leave whenever you want. Hannah would be heartbroken if you left because someone was after you. Talk with Bryson, and see if he can explain better than me.”
The two men left, and she was left standing next to him.
“Come sit with me on a bale.”
When she sat next to him, she did everything in her power to keep her body from leaning toward him.
“Let’s start with how we had someone loot at the truck after it was retrieved from the bottom of the cliff. Someone cut the brakes, and how it was done means it had to have happened in town. What Taz was trying to say is we want to help you and figure out who did this. You can leave or stay, but taking off is not the best option until we find the guy who did this.”
“What happens if they come after Hannah or someone on the ranch?”
Bryson twirled a piece of straw between his fingers. “I just got here the other day, but without talking to anyone on this ranch, I know they would want to protect you. These men are ex-military. Maybe they got hurt, but their instinct to protect is still there. Are you saying you don’t trust them with your life?”
She glared at the sexy cowboy. “That is not what I said, and you’re trying to guilt-trip me into staying.”
His lips twitched. “Did it work?”
“Yes, but if something bad happens, it’s not my fault.”
