“You want us to teach you how to fight, little Omega?”
I nod, “Yes. If that encounter today taught me anything it's that I need to be better equipped to go up against Calvin. He won’t stop even though you have told him to. If anything, this would have just lit a fire under his ass,” I shake my head, “I refuse to be at his mercy ever again.”
Jax must be able to see the emotion on my face as he reaches over the middle seat to grab my hand.
“You will never be defenceless ever again, baby. But if learning how to fight helps you to feel better, that's exactly what we will do.
I let out a breath, “Thank you. I just… today has made me really see that I need to start taking control of my life. You guys have given me the opportunity to do that. I don’t want to waste it.”
“It wouldn’t be a waste. We are here for you. If you want us to fight your battles, we are here. If you want us to stand behind you while you fight them yourself, we will be there for you. Whatever you want from us, we are here.”
Tears immediately well up in my eyes at Jax’s words. While I had gathered that's how they felt, it still pulls at the heart strings actually hearing it.
It’s not long before we are pulling back up at the house. The trunk is full to the brim with bags. The guys insist on loading themselves up, so I am left to open doors for them. Theo gives me the code to the front door, claiming that he wants me to know it in case I’m ever not with them. Something I doubt, but I nod anyway, banking the code in my brain for another day.
I feel myself begin to crash the moment I get into my new bedroom. Like all of the adrenaline has finally worn off after standing up for myself against my father. Jax looks at me with sympathy as I yawn.
“Do you want to lie down, sweetheart?”
I shake my head, “No, it's okay. I should help you guys put everything away.” I go to grab one of the bags dumped on the floor but Theo beats me to it. “No chance, love. You look exhausted. Go with Jax and lay down. We will take care of all this.”
I go to protest but am cut off yet again, “Omega, go lie down with your Alpha. Get some rest.”
I can’t help but shiver at the edge of a growl in Theo’s voice as he nods his head towards the open door.
I feel my panties slicken and scorn myself when three groans sound from the Alphas now glaring at me with heat in their eyes.
What can I say? Growls from these men are ridiculously attractive.
“Go,” Theo grits through clenched teeth, nodding with more earnestness towards the door. I can tell it pains him though, especially after the show Ledger and I put on for him and Jax earlier.
Jax grabs my hand and drags me towards what I assume is his room. Even though I want to stay and help pack away everything, I don’t complain as we head further down the hallway.
My Alphas scent hits me the moment we walk into his room. I smile as I take in my surroundings.
While the rest of the house gives off dark and gothic vibes, Jax’s room is the polar opposite. The walls are painted beige which gives the room a calm feeling. His unmade super king bed takes up one of the walls that looks out towards the grounds.
Jax lets my hand drop as he walks over to the walk in robe. It gives me the perfect opportunity to look around the room and do a bit of snooping.
I walk over to the desk in the corner of the room. It's relatively bare except for a laptop, folders for school work and a picture frame.
I pick it up and grin as I see a young Theo, Jax and Ledger smiling right back at me. By the looks of it, they are about twelve in the photo. They have that look about them that screams not a child anymore but not quite a teenager.
They are standing in front of a brick wall with their arms around each other’s shoulders. They look like they are unburdened by life. Like whatever mess they are caught up in now hadn’t darkened their lives just yet.
Maybe except for Ledger. I note a hint of pain behind his eyes, something that still lingers there in the moments I have looked into them today.
“The three of us have been friends for years now. From the moment we met, we knew that we were destined to be a pack,” Jax says as he comes over and hands me a stack of clothes.
I put down the picture frame and smile as I take them from him.
“When did things start to go further between you and Ledger?”
Jax chuckles as he leans against the window sill, “I had a feeling you would want to know more, angel.”
I nod. Of course I want to know more. Is he crazy? That kiss did things to me I didn’t know was possible.
“Things started to really progress when he turned fifteen,” he shrugs his shoulders, looking down at his feet that are now crossed over each other, “Ledger was broken when mine and Theo’s father took him off the streets. It took him a long time to come around to us. Once he did, we were instant best friends. I guess, once hormones started to kick in, we just began to see each other in a different light.”
