Once I am satisfied enough, I turn the doorknob. The scents hit me the moment I enter the room. It takes everything in me to not react negatively. Instead, I put the most gentle smile on my face, one that is utterly fake and heavily practiced. One that my father approves of.
My father sits behind his mahogany desk doing his best to look like an Alpha. Dressed in all black, his suit jacket buttons threaten to pop where he remains blind to the fact he should have sized up. I don’t know if it is just arrogance that forced my hand to ensure he got the same size he has worn for the last twenty years.
Twenty years that have been unkind for him.
His face is worn from years of pretending to be something he isn’t. His hair has balded significantly over the years. Now, he keeps it clean-shaven just like his face. He stands, coming over to me with his arms out in a welcoming hug. He places a hand on my shoulder, squeezing to the point of pain as he aims at me with a fierce look that makes me cower. Turning back towards the men, that fake look is back on his face. “Mullen pack, this is my beautiful Omega daughter, Kennedy.”
I finally allow myself to look at the Alpha pack that slowly rise from the leather couches.
The first Alpha has a predatory look on his face as he begins making his way towards me.
I don’t bother to even try to keep eye contact with him as I drop my head to the floor. A rumbling noise comes from his chest and I know that I did the right thing. It doesn’t fill me with satisfaction like the noise that came from Theo did.
My father steps away from me as he gives the Alpha a chance to walk around me.
I stiffen as he picks up a strand of my hair, bringing it to his nose and smelling it. “Mmm, she smells divine. Although, I sense other Alphas on her.”
My stomach drops and I feel the color drain from my face.
Fuck no. This isn’t happening.
“That would most likely be because she attends Ridgeview Academy. You know what some of those younger Alphas are like.” My father waves his hand in nonchalance. Out of the corner of my eye, I watch as the Alpha nods his head, “Hmm, makes sense. Even back when we attended some of them could never control themselves.” The Alphas behind him laugh like what he said is some kind of joke I am not privy to. My father laughs along with them but I know he doesn’t understand what they are talking about.
“Your daughter is quite delightful, Calvin,” I hear one of the other Alphas say as he comes up behind the other Alpha still lingering close to me.
“Thank you, Jaiden. I ensure that she takes great pride in herself.”
Jaiden takes a slow circle around me before he stops directly in front of me. Reaching his hand up, he grips my chin, bringing my face up so I am able to look directly at him. His brown eyes do nothing for me. There is no denying that he is attractive. His face is angled in theright ways that give him a look that would have many Omegas on their knees before him. But I have seen perfection, and it's not him.
He smiles at me, the look on his face letting me know that he is a good guy. Which is strange because the other Alpha made me feel uneasy.
“What do you think, Jaiden?” The first Alpha asks.
“I think she is beautiful, don’t you, Ronan?”
“She smells good too,” Ronan chuckles. I watch from the corner of my eye as he crosses his arms over his chest as he watches me.
My skin crawls and I swallow as Jaiden eventually lets go of my chin. Keeping my head up, I divert my eyes to the ground.
Jaiden doesn’t move for a moment but a shove from behind him jolts him out of the road, “Stop hogging her.”
The next Alpha’s voice is deeper. My skin instantly pebbles and I go on high alert. The guy just chuckles, thinking he did something right. Instead, I know that this Alpha is no good. Without hesitation, he winds his arms around me, bringing my body into his. I feel his hard cock against my stomach and it curls in repulsion.
I shiver, making him chuckle as he brings his nose to my ear.
“That's enough, Charles.”
The Alpha steps away from me, as another takes his place. The guy slaps Charles in the stomach, making him back up further.
“Our time will come. You need to learn patience,” the Alpha murmurs as he takes stock of me too.
“Easy for you to say, Trent. She’s delicious.”
Trent just scoffs but doesn’t give him anything else. This Alpha’s perusal of me feels more calculated, but just as disturbing, as the others.
His scent is sour as he stalks around me.
I vaguely see him nod before he takes a step back. It's a relief that he doesn’t touch me but it doesn't ease all of my fears in regards to this ‘meeting’.
