He stumbles over his words, scrambling in panic as I get a good couple of feet away from him.
Ledger goes to reach for me and I know if I don’t act now, it will have been for nothing.
Kicking my foot up through the water, I cover Ledger head to toe in the salty ocean. He stands amongst the low waves for a moment as droplets fall from him one by one.
Eventually he opens his eyes, a mixture of emotions filling his brown eyes.
“Sorry,” I giggle, shrugging my shoulders as I take another step back, praying that I don’t fall over in the uneven sand.
Ledger's eyes narrow on me as he takes a menacing step forward.
“You are such a naughty Little Omega, tricking your Alpha like that? I think a punishment is in order.”
His statement ends on a growl making my entire body shiver.
“After a joke that mean, I’d say she is almost begging for it.”
Theo’s voice in my ear makes me jump. Being so focused on playing around with Ledger, I hadn’t even given any thought to where my other two Alphas had gone.
I’m not fool enough to doubt that Jax is behind me as well.
I am well and truly caged in.
My eyes dart to an opening to my right. I doubt that I would be quick enough but I have to try my luck.
Looking to my right, I attempt to act surprised, “Look, a dolphin!”
The moment the words leave my mouth, I’m already taking off in a sprint, which is harder than you think when waves are crashing against your legs and the sand beneath your feet threatens to pull you under.
I only get a few steps, barely making it through the gap before arms are pulling me back. A squeal pulls from my chest as I’m pulled further into the water. The chill along with the placement of one of my Alphas hands on my body spreads goosebumps over my skin.
“Time to pay,” Ledger whispers in my ear before dunking me quickly under the waves. I’m thankful that he at least gave me a moment's warning to hold my breath before the plunge so I didn’t have to choke on seawater.
I open my eyes to stare up into Ledger’s as he brings me back up. Even though I got caught and my plans fell to ash, I can’t help the smile that graces my lips.
It feels nice.
Having the opportunity to just be. To allow myself to explore the person that I can become. To laugh freely with my men. To muck around without the constrictions of reality.
“I like seeing you like this,” he murmurs.
I cock my head, “Like how?”
It takes him a moment to reply, but when he does, it makes my heart clench.
“Like the atrocities of this world have never touched your perfect flesh.”
Chapter Twenty Eight
We seem to lose all sense of time as we run around down at the beach. We don’t see another soul the entire day.
It's just me and my three Alphas.
I didn’t realize just how much my soul needed this. How deprived I have been from love before they came into my life. I knew that it was bad but I didn’t realize it was this bad.
It makes me despise my father even more than I already do.
The sky begins to set over the horizon bringing an end to our time here. I sigh as I stand, hating the fact that we have to leave already. Jax sees my reaction and grabs my hand, “We will come back, Angel.”
