Walter watches as I approach him and I wrap my arms around him for a hug.
“Thank you for everything,” I whisper.
“You’re welcome.” He draws back with a smile. “Are you happy, Miss Fallon?”
“The happiest I’ve ever been.” I grin.
No truer words have been spoken.
A year ago, I never could have pictured this life for myself—with a man who loves me unconditionally, a cat who shares my fondness for scary movies, and a strong support system in Walter and the Staffords.
Somehow, Harrison and I ended up exactly where we were meant to be. Funny how those closest to us always seem to interfere for the better, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Having people who care enough to push me toward happiness is something I’ll never take for granted.
This is only the start of our love story, and I can’t wait for what comes next.
Harrison & Fallon Sitting in a Tree
Dylan: I’m shocked you declined a 4pm meeting, Harrison. Are you sick?
Harrison: I’m taking Fallon on a date to the Mavericks game tonight.
Dylan: Good to see you making time for something other than work.
Mom: That’s so romantic!
Cash: It’s official, big brother. You’re in love.
Harrison: I am. Fallon and I are officially a couple.
Mom: I’ve never been so happy. Do you think I should book the church in Aspen Grove nextsummer just in case you want to use it?
Presley: Ok Mom, calm down. They aren’t even engaged yet.
Mom: Semantics.
Presley: Dylan, you might want to go over and check on Mom.
Harrison: Cash, it’s been 5 minutes.
Mom: I’m okay. Just so thrilled all my kids have found their perfect match.
Dylan: It’s all thanks to you, Mom.
Mom: I have no idea what you’re talking about.
Harrison: Regardless. We love you.
Mom: I love you all too.
I set my phone aside, scrolling through a résumé Cabrina sent me earlier. It’s important that my brothers and I have quality time outside of work to be with our families. To make that possible, we’re hiring a director of operations to handle the growing workload and streamline operations, with plans to expand our executive team once they’re onboarded.
The change is a complete reversal of how I used to manage the business, where I took on a heavy workload and was reluctant to delegate. But it’s the right thing to do to find a better balance in my life, and I couldn’t be more pleased about it.
The rest of the day drags on, and by the time I reach the apartment building after work, I’m more than ready to see Fallon.
