“Are you nervous?” Alecto asks, surprised.
“Fuck yes,” I mutter before the door opens.
First dates don’t get any easier, take it from me.
CHAPTER 21
LORELEI
Glaring at myself one last time in the mirror, I curse my insecurities. It’s like this dance that I have whenever I’m dressing for something important to me. Are my hips too wide, or is this dress too slutty?
Or worse, is it too demure?!
“Wow,” Samael says, sitting up in bed. He’s been listening to me agonize over my body, and I think he’s sick of it. “I’m jealous of that dress, Lorelei.”
Smirking, I smooth my hands down the material. The top is crisscrossed over my breasts before tying behind my neck, and the skirt hits mid thigh with a corded belt around my waist. It's olive green and sleeveless, perfect for the spring day.
Taking a deep breath, I remind myself that I look pretty. My makeup is understated, done in neutral tones, my lip gloss a light pink. Since the weather is getting warmer, I bought myself a pair of cute sandals that fit well too. I’m fine, even though my palms are sweaty and my heart is pounding.
“Why are you so nervous?” he asks, standing in a smooth movement before walking over to me.
“It’s so silly,” I grouse. “This isn’t my first time having a first date.”
“No, but it is the first date with a monster who fucked his hand and came in your lotion… Ah, fuck,” he mutters.
“He, no. Samael, you’re fucking with me, right? How do you even know that?” I ask, turning to face him.
Granted, I have to look way up, but I want answers.
“I have a really hard time keeping secrets from you. I’m going to blame the bonding, but really I just hate keeping shit from you,” he groans. “Alecto had it taken to the lab because it was really gross looking. We wanted to make sure there wasn’t something wrong with it since you used it so often.”
“Have I ever used it after he used it to… Fuck, how did that even happen?” I gasp.
“I don’t know that part. All I know is what Alecto told me about the lab results,” Samael says, hiding a smile.
It’s a little funny, but oh my god.
“Now I have to go on this date,” I mutter as the knock sounds on the door.
“You look beautiful, and look at it this way: he wanted you so badly, he drained his knot in your lotion,” he says, chuckling. “Have fun.”
I hate you.
“I love you more,”Samael says through the bond as I huff. “If he doesn’t give you orgasms, I will be more than willing to.”
“Who said romance was dead,” I giggle. “Should I bring my phone?”
“No, we’ll find you if it’s necessary,” he says. “Stop stalling.”
Making a face at him, I leave my nest to go see Bast, who looks amazing. He’s wearing dark washed jeans, boots, and a button down short sleeved deep blue shirt that makes my mouth water as I eat up his thick thighs and corded muscles. I have athing for gorgeous monsters, even if they do have a trail of red flags following them.
“Hi,” I murmur with a smile.
“Hi yourself,” he says with a grin, his arm encircling my waist as he lifts me to give me a quick kiss on the lips. His fangs gleam against his skin, his freckles on proud display. “Are you ready?”
“I am,” I say. “Are you going to let me walk today?”
“That’s up in the air,” he teases me, though he does place my feet back on the ground. “It’s more fun to carry you around.”
