“Two times a week, but that’ll ramp up as we get closer to performance nights. Don’t get me wrong, I think I’ll enjoy playing Cria. I’ve been going through her songs, and she seems like a lot of fun. What I don’t appreciate is how little free time I’m going to have,” she says.
“I get it, and then add in the papers that are coming up as well, it’s stressful,” I add. “Dalca is up to something.”
“I haven’t the faintest idea what. He hates me,” she says with a shrug. Checking the time, she takes a final bite and stands. “I just need a second to refill my water bottle and then I’m ready to go.”
“You’re good on time,” I remind her. “I fully intend to mist you there. I don’t even have to pretend you walked anymore.”
Phenex rolls his eyes watching as Lorelei walks to her backpack to grab her bottle and goes into the kitchen.
“I’m glad you’re public, but jealous as hell. I need to schedule a meeting with President Christa. I’ll figure out what I’m going to say,” he mutters. “She’s been dropping by my office hours recently. It’s odd.”
“Better your office than your home,” I grunt. “I’ll go by Lorelei’s dorm and hope Adares is home alone. I have some aggression to work out.”
“Enjoy,” Phenex says, perking up with a smirk.
“Glad to help,” I chuckle, standing. Phenex picks up the dishes as Lorelei returns, and I watch as she gets her things.
Come to think of it, I’ve felt a set of eyes on me when I’m with her, but wrote it off as any number of students we’re surrounded by. Now, I’m wondering if it’s been Adares.
As soon as I have a chance, hopefully tonight, I’ll get to pay the dorms a visit.
Fuck, the weekend was one thing after another. I also dislike squandering my time when Lorelei and I get so little of it.
The days have just been melding into each other, and now it’s Tuesday afternoon. Glaring at the dorm building where her things are, I stride toward the front door. Phenex is at the library with Lorelei, planning a lecture while she writes a paper. Ever since she was spooked when she was alone, we’ve made ourselves available to hang out with her while she’s doing research.
We feel more confident in her safety this way, and she’s not scared as she moves between the stacks researching and writing for class assignments.
Nodding at a student as they open the door, I walk through as if I should be here. I need to appear as if I walked through the old-fashioned way for the cameras on this floor, so there’s proof that I came for her things. No one will believe that I beat the shit out of Adares, though.
I’ll also ensure he craps himself while I catch it on camera. It’s the little things in life that make me happy. Phenex and Alecto will also appreciate the opportunity to watch it later. I can be a team player and brother mate when I want to be.
Ew. Let’s never say that again. Gagging as I get into the empty elevator, I wait until the doors close before misting away.
Moving through the dorm room, I find Adares in his room but everyone else is gone. I do have Lorelei’s key in case anyone asks, and he has a pair of earphones on. I want the element of surprise to work for me. Slipping off to her room, I return to my form to drop off the cart I’m carrying with me to pack all of her things up.
Since Adares is busy, I quickly begin to pack all of Lorelei’s things up. Lifting a sweater that doesn’t immediately smell like anyone I recognize from the closet, I realize it’s the scent of the monster who broke into her room. He fucking left his sweater in her nest.
What a twunt. Scowling, I drop the sweater in a resealable bag so it won’t affect the rest of her possessions to bring with me. Every omega has different cycles for their heats, and stress can affect it. She may need this in her nest during it if we can’t work out who the wanker is.
Looking around, I sigh as I see that everything she owns fits inside of the cart I assembled. It’s ready to be pulled out of the room, as soon as I take care of one little thing.
Opening the door as if I own the place, I step outside to find Adares standing in front of the refrigerator, a carrot dangling from between his fangs. The dorm room is still completely empty outside of the two of us.
My work is done, now I can have some fun. Ensuring I shut the door behind me, I stroll toward Adares.
“What are you doing here?” he mumbles, shutting the fridge door. Pulling the half bitten carrot from his lips, he tosses it onto a plate. “More than that, how the fuck did you get in?”
“Keys,” I grunt, lifting them from my pocket to show him. “I’m also one of the most powerful fear demons outside of the gates of Hell. Do you know what that means?”
“You’re more likely to prey on little blonde whores?” he scoffs.
That’s cute.
Since I can manipulate my body’s molecules, I can also control air as well. It’s part of playing on creatures’ fears when they find they can no longer breathe. With a single thought, I smirk as Adares makes a soft choking sound. It takes a second longer before his hand is on his throat, but the reality is that there’s no air. It’s just…gone.
It’s not circulating, the oxygen isn’t even in his lungs anymore. If I really tried, I could remove it from every blood vessel in his body, however I’m not ready for my fun to end. Ashe drops to his knees, I walk slowly over to him, ensuring that he can hear every footstep on the linoleum floor of the kitchen.
“You’ve been fucking with my girl,” I murmur. I make sure not to be too quiet, I need him to hear me over the roaring of the blood in his ears, after all. “Lorelei is very special to me, and she doesn’t feel safe as a woman in this dorm situation. Someone broke into her room, and that was the last night she stayed here.”
