Right. Fucking. Now.

“Who is it? I’m a little busy,” Therese says, her tone irritated.

I’m about to do something really stupid, and I can’t find it in myself to care. Twisting the door knob, I walk inside.

“Why are you detaining Miss Rose?” I ask, brow raised.

“Why is it any of your business?” Therese asks. “It’s my job to track where scholarship students are laying their heads at night. Misuse of funds is a grave concern with the current crisis if they’re not where they’re supposed to be.”

That’s bullshit, but I’ll let that slide.

“She’s living with me,” I state. “I’ll go by and pack up her things to ensure that the room can go to someone else. We were making sure that her status as both my food source and girlfriend were solidified before we formally announced it to the school.”

Lorelei blinks at me as my hand brushes her hair to the side and wraps around the back of her throat. I can feel her pulse thumping at an excited pace, even as her face remains impassive. That’s it, don’t give Therese anything to jump on.

“She’s your… Samael,” Therese says, dumbfounded.

I’m a fear demon, which means that in times when it’s difficult for me to feed, I’m able to choose one person to be my sole source of food. Ironically, it’s also what demons have done to keep their omegas a secret while still giving them the respect they deserve.

Many demons before me have found that their soul bonds to their omega even without a bite, making them the only person they can feed from. I recently did some research on this inside of the demonic texts in the special topics section when I realized that I couldn’t feed from anyone else. It’s only available in our language, which means not many people can understand them.

Everything I do is to ensure her safety. Especially this. It’s a gamble because it’s not done anymore, and I’m enacting an ancient tradition. However, since I can't feed from anyone other than her anyway, all I’m doing is making our relationship public.

Being my food source also isn’t a derogatory thing. It is often for life, meaning that I am binding her to me forever and a big fucking deal. It’s a place of importance in my life.

While we haven’t had this conversation yet, I do intend to keep her.

“I didn’t stutter, did I, Therese?” I ask.

“No, but that’s a very serious declaration and she’s so young,” she hisses.

“It doesn’t make it any less true,” Lorelei adds, standing as tall as her short stature allows. She’s not going to take any shit, which is why I love her.

Is it fast for me to declare any of this? Maybe, but I’ve been waiting a long time to feel pulled to anyone the way I am to Lorelei. I’m not going to waste a moment.

“Are you trying to imply this is inappropriate?” I ask wryly. “President Christa is well aware of the situation and hasn’t uttered a word of discontent.”

Regardless of the stretch that may be, if she hasn’t yanked me into her office, then we’re fine. The woman doesn’t mince her words, and she’s been up Phenex’s ass still.

This will be better for all parties involved.

“Of course not,” Therese says. “I guess the mystery of where you’re staying has been solved.”

“It was never a mystery,” I reply. “Our relationship was private while Lorelei and I have been getting to know each other. It also wasn’t a secret to anyone paying attention.”

My thumb continues to trace over her pulse point. I’m annoyed with Therese, and want to ensure that Lorelei is able to eat lunch today. This all means that I’m going to do something a bit flashy.

It’s a day of firsts it seems, oh goody.

“I… you’re right,” Therese says, stumbling over her words.

The room is becoming frigid as my annoyance becomes anger. I can see Lorelei’s breath, and watch as she snuggles further into her coat. I appreciate that she’s allowing me to be myself. Anyone else would tell me to stop pouting.

Well, they would if they didn’t respect the fact that my control slips when I’m angry. Lorelei is always safe with me. It’s everyone else that may have to worry.

“I know I’m right. Now, if you’ll excuse us, I need to ensure that Lorelei eats lunch before she continues her busy day,” I rumble. My voice is between a purr and a growl.

Therese is pissing me all the way off today. Wrapping my arms around my omega, I bury my face against her neck as I breathe, “Hold on, beautiful.”
