“You’re keeping something from us,” Samael announces. “I can tell.”
“Fuck. Please don’t make fun of me. I went to a fair when I was eighteen,” I explain. “It was silly, but I wanted to celebrate and my day didn’t start off the best. Before I left, I stopped by to see a fortune teller. The things she said scared me. She seemed to see too much.”
“Fortune tellers get a bad rap, but some of them do have incredible abilities,” Samael says. “You live in a world where monsters, demons, and shifters exist, beautiful. Why would this be so far-fetched?”
“That is exactly the reasoning I gave myself when I forced myself to go inside,” I say. “She told me my body would change that day, and while I was driving to college, I had to pull off the road because I started experiencing really intense pain. My body was too hot.”
Phenex’s eyes are wide and concerned as he gazes at me. “How long did that last?” he asks.
“An hour at the most and then I was able to keep driving. What’s odd is that toward the end of the semester, I’ll get this feeling of foreboding and pain. Every nerve in my body insists that I need to move, change schools immediately,” I say. “As soon as I open my laptop to begin searching for another school and send off the proper forms, it eases. It’s what led me here.”
“Your body was making you look for us,” Phenex grunts. “I wonder if you’ll have any other scent matches.”
“Maybe? I don’t know, but I really expected you not to believe me,” I admit.
“I’m a walking lie detector,” Samael says. “I’ll always be able to tell. Every word rang true.”
“What else does your body do?” Phenex asks, staring really hard at me.
“That’s a loaded question, sir. Why don’t you ask the question you actually want to ask?” I demand.
That was pretty brazen of me, and also unfortunately laden with innuendo.
“Are you done eating?” Samael asks, interrupting the staring contest I’m having with Phenex.
“I am,” I murmur. The chicken was perfect. I’ve never been able to get mine to come out like that. For that reason alone, I could be tempted to eat more meals here.
“I’ll clear plates, go sit closer to Phenex,” Samael says, kissing my cheek as he picks up the plates in front of Phenex and I.
Holding his hand out to me, Phenex waits for me to take it while Samael walks to the kitchen.
“What’s wrong?” I ask, taking his hand as I stand.
“Nothing, I just have a theory,” he says, pushing back his seat to pull me between his legs. My back rests against the table as I raise my brow, waiting. “Scent matches aren’t something that happen to everyone, and someone like you is extremely rare. One of the reasons that they exist is to help you get through something called a heat. It’s several days where you’ll experience some pain unless you have one of us to help you through it.”
“Help me how?” I breathe, focused completely on his words.
“Through sex. You’re going to crave it. Samael and I also have something called a knot that you’re going to want to feel relief,” he says.
“I feel like I’m getting a completely different sexual education class than the one I received at school,” I say, feeling a little overwhelmed.
I don’t know these guys, yet the reason my body has been looking for them is biological? There has to be more to this.
“It sounds strange, but I’ve heard it’s an intense experience,” he murmurs. “To be able to fulfill your every need is an honor, Lorelei. I’ve been waiting for you for a really long time. There’s no rush, but you‘re also very stubborn. I don’t want you to think you have to try to ride this out alone. You may feel like you need to rearrange things, feel hot, irritable, and a raging need to fuck.”
“So I’ll be neurotic and horny,” I say, groaning. “Why do you think that’ll happen?”
“That’s a history class for another day. I’m off the clock, baby,” he says, lifting me until I’m sitting on the edge of the table. “It’s just how you’re made. Promise me you’ll call one of us. Don’t tell me that you don’t have my number, I’ll give it to you before you leave. Now, I’ve been dreaming about these lips all damn day.”
His fingers slide into my hair, directing my face to tilt up to accept his kiss. I’ve been wondering if this dinner would lead to this, and I can’t say that I’m disappointed. Instead, I moan softly, and I find him laying me back on the table as he continues to destroy my panties. They’re done for.
I don’t bother to worry if there’s anything behind me, I’m completely focused on Phenex as he raises up slightly from the chair to cover my body. His hand ghosts my body even as his tongue pushes its way into my mouth, and I suck on it hard. He tastes like my favorite fruit, his groan making me shiver as I whine.
“Fuck yes. I’m gonna need all your little sounds, Lorelei,” he murmurs, his nose grazing against mine before he kisses me again. We’re trading gasping breaths together, only breathing when the other comes up for air.
His hand covers my breast, squeezing, massaging, and pulling my nipple until I whine like my life depends on it.
“Fuck,” Samael mutters, and then I feel the temperature become a little cooler.
