Bast rolls his lips in to hide a smile, and picks her up so that all of her weight isn’t on her arms.

“Still want to be stuck with me forever?” he asks, looking sheepish. “It’s too late if you don’t.”

“Why wouldn’t I want to be with you when I love you?” she asks. It’s a sweet and innocent comment, and I can tell it hits Bast in the gut.

“I love you too,” he murmurs. “You’re everything I didn’t know I needed.”

After another minute, Bast is able to get his softening knot to slide out of Lorelei’s pussy, but only because of the amount of cum and slick inside of her. She winces as it starts to slide down her leg, and I grin.

“I’m going to draw a bath for you,” I tell her, taking her from Bast’s arms.

“Ah, can I come by after all of this is over?” he asks, putting his dick away and making sure he appears put together as he grabs his jacket.

I think it’s a lost cause, but good luck to him.

“Yeah,” I decide. “We should probably get you a key at some point.”

“It’ll be later because there’s some sort of party, but?—”

“Do your thing,” Lorelei says, curling up in my arms. Her skin doesn’t feel as warm as it did before, so I think this was a fluke. “This was amazing. Everyone performed so well.”

Grinning at her, he nods, and I hold her tightly as I mist away. We’re slowly banding together, and our pack is forming.

Fuck, I hope it’s enough.

LORELEI

I can’t believe the last few months have flown by. I just took my last final, the sun is shining as I step out of class, and my birthday is today.

“Lorelei, are you going to the carnival tonight?” a student in my math class asks as he walks next to me.

“Carnival?” I ask, feeling an odd sort of déjà vu.

“Yeah, President Christa set it up on the other side of the campus, where the open fields are,” he explains. “It was a rough semester, I may check it out with some friends.”

“That does sound fun,” I agree, even though it feels odd that she’d do that. “Maybe I’ll see you.”

Honestly, a night with my mates and some ice cream sounds a lot better, though. Walking in the direction of the faculty apartments, I blow out a breath. Five exams, four papers, and a lab exam rounded out my finals week. I’m fucking exhausted.

It feels surreal that I’m twenty years old today. It’s really easy to forget your own birthday when you’re treading water, trying to keep your head just above it.

“Lorelei!” a woman’s voice calls out as I walk, and my head swivels behind me to figure out who’s calling my name.

“Yes?” I ask, eyes narrowing as I see President Christa speed walking to catch up to me.

I don’t really know what to think of her still, so I smooth my face of any mistrust.

“Guys, the president of the university is tracking me down. Does that seem odd to you?”I ask through the bond.

Over the last few months, we’ve been playing with what we can do with the bond. Samael can track me down no matter howfar I am from him, and I can communicate with one, two, or all of them at the same time now.

Alecto and I haven’t bonded yet, because he said he wanted to do it tonight. Yet another reason to spend my birthday at home.

Forcing a smile, I watch as the president of the university walks up to me. While she’s smaller than most monsters, she still towers over me.

“She’ll know if I get close, the old bat can somehow always tell,”Samael grumbles. “I’ll be waiting twenty feet away by the theater building.”
