“To my favorite waterfall. It’s just a couple of minutes away.”
She makes an appreciative sound. “How cool! I can’t imagine living so close to a waterfall.”
She stays close to me as we walk, her side brushing against mine. Her pajamas have been replaced with jeans and a woolen coat that hugs her thick curves. It’s enough to melt my brain, and for a few seconds, I can’t make myself speak.
“It’s…uh…yeah. My brother and I used to play there when we were kids.”
Audrey bites her lip, like she’s thinking. “It’s beautiful out here, don’t get me wrong, but doesn’t it get a little isolated? Lonely?”
“I like the quiet,” I say with a shrug. “And Dane lives nearby, so we see each other pretty often.”
“Yeah. I guess I’m just used to the hustle and bustle, you know?”
“Well, Miss Denver, my cabin isn’t as remote as it looks,” I tell her, the sound of water getting louder. “You can be down in Cherry Hollow in about fifteen minutes.”
Audrey smiles teasingly. “Is there a Starbucks there?”
“No, but there’s a Mountain Brew. Way better than Starbucks, trust me.”
The trees finally fall away, revealing a gush of crystal-clear water that tumbles over a cliff high above us and into a circular pool. Sunlight catches the cascade, and misty rainbows appear all around, the colors twinkling and vibrant.
“Wow.” Audrey lets out a whoosh of breath. “This is just…wow.”
Her pouty lips fall open as she takes it in. This place is amazing, sure. But I only have eyes for Audrey. The waterfall has nothing on the girl standing beside me, with her heart-shaped face and sapphire eyes. She senses me looking. Her gaze slides up to meet mine.
“It’s beautiful,” she says. “Really beautiful.”
Not as beautiful as you, Audrey.
Nothing is as beautiful as you.
I should say it, but my mouth is dry as I look at her, my heart pounding against my rib cage. I should have kissed her last night. Fuck the consequences. If I don’t kiss this perfect girl, I know I’ll regret it for the rest of my life, no matter what happens.
“Weston…” She says my name so softly that I barely hear it over the water. She knows what I’m thinking. I can see it in her eyes. “You know I have to leave soon.”
“I know.”
“So we shouldn’t?—”
“I know.”
We look at each other for a beat longer. I don’t know who moves first. Maybe we move at the same time. My hand cups her cheek, and with a groan, I crush my lips to hers. Adrenaline pulses through my veins as our mouths meld, teeth clashing in desperation.
Fuck, yes.
She tastes so damn sweet, like pancakes and syrup. I slide my tongue between her lips, relishing the way she moans as her soft body melts against me in surrender. I push her backward against a thick tree trunk, cushioning her head with my palm. My skin is on fire. Every nerve is pulsing with need, and my cock strains against my jeans as I claim Audrey’s pretty mouth, all my frustration bubbling to the surface, overflowing.
“I’ve wanted to do that since the minute I saw you,” I murmur, pulling away to brush kisses up her neck.
“Me too.” She shivers against my lips, her voice breathless. “So much.”
I need more. I want all of her. Every inch of her gorgeous body.
My hand slips beneath the waistband of her jeans, two fingers brushing against her wet panties. I push the sodden fabric aside and cup her soft mound, making her gasp as my thumb touches her clit.
“Fuck, Audrey…I need to taste you.”
I sink to my knees and yank her jeans down, but before I can grab her panties, she reaches out her hand to stop me.
