Page 28 of Trusting the Team

Embry pulled her head back lifting an eyebrow, “maybe you should take me to a hotel.” “Like hell,” Duke got out of the truck and walked around to open Embry's door.

Embry slid passed him while he held the door, “fine, you get the couch.”

Later that nightDuke walked into the bedroom and woke Embry up. “What?” she jumped.

“I have to go.” Embry sat up in bed, she was wearing one of his T-shirts. “You have Dari's number, call her if you need anything. If something happens call her. In fact, maybe you should just go over and stay with her while we're gone.”

Embry looked at him, “I'll figure it out, stop worrying. You have other things to worry about.”

Duke looked down at her, “I want you here when I get back.”

“You do?” Embry asked, knowing she had gone to bed mad.

“Of course, I do.”

“Then marry me,” Embry said flatly.

“What?”

“If you want me here, then marry me,” Embry repeated.

“Now?!”

“Your Commander can do it.”

“But no one is here. Don't you want a ceremony and a dress and stuff?” Duke was scrambling now.

“Your team is here,” Embry shrugged.

“Now?” In silent reply, Embry got out of bed and headed to the closet. “Shit,” Duke turned and dialed his Commander.

“You pickeda hell of a time to get married,” Hammer muttered as Duke came in the door of the hangar. He was quickly surrounded by his teammates.

“Obviously I didn't plan it,” he replied.

“Good for you. Already learning,” Cowboy slapped him on the back. He walked off to check on Embry, and Trey took his place in the huddle.

Ferret looked at his friend, “You're sure?”

“No, but I don't want to be without her.”

“I knew that the second you put eyes on her,” Ferret responded.

“Well, if he’s ready let’s go, the bird won't wait all night,” Chaos said.

“You ok?”Cowboy asked as he neared Embry.

“Yeah, might as well be Vegas, right?”

“Well, let’s hope this works better than most of those.”

Dari burst through the door, “I didn't miss it!”

Cowboy pulled her into a hug, “No, babe. We heard she couldn't get married without a matron of honor.” He leaned down kissing her.

“Lock it up,” Chaos rustled the group. “With all due respect, Embry, can we get this thing moving?”

Dari looked at Embry's slightly shocked face. “His bark is worse than his bite.” She smiled as they all headed into an open office where the team's Commander was waiting.
